Some of my fans have said that I am Stone Creek Woman. What do you think? Last month's newsletter says that I will be giving you my journal entries in the following newsletters.
SHARED BLESSINGS
Later that afternoon, Stone Creek Woman taught the women how to throw arrows from a spear called an atlatl. She uses the therapeutic tool to show the women a sense of accomplishment, and in no way is a hint of inflicting injury or death in retalliation, although the spearhead darts are effective killing tools when combined with an atlatl.
The atlatl is a prehistoric spear-throwing device that flung arrow-like darts at prehistoric mammoths. Atlatl is an Aztec word meaning "throwing stick." the Australians and Pygmies still use the atlatl for hunting game.
The atlatl is meant to stay in one's hand and bears a notch at the end to house the darted arrow until one chooses to catapult the arrow at a target.
Stone Creek Woman flint-knaps Folsom-style spearheads out of obsidian, bloodstone, quartz crystal, and chrysocolla. She uses a homemade tool called a flaker, made from wrapping copper around a discarded deer antler. The flaker allows her to fracture the stone in a cone shape until she arrives at her desired point on the spearhead. She then uses whatever variety of discarded bird feathers she finds to decorate and balance the launch of the spearhead.
Each of the seven women and Sage watched, as Stone Creek Woman knelt on one knee with the crochet hook-shaped wooden stick in her hand. She flung the spearhead at a balloon tied to bailing twine on a stack of straw bales. Her skill and accuracy popped the target balloon on her first launch, receiving a cheerful round of applause from the women.
"You must make yourself succeed. You must do the things you think you cannot do. Battered women are programmed to fail by their abusers. It is time to stop playing this role. It is time to write your own script. This prehistoric tool will help kill the evil beast which lives within each of you. You deserve to be loved and respected, and you must empower yourselves with a commitment to try. It is more than half of the battle," Stone Creek Woman recited.
The seven women and Sage learned atlatl throwing isn't an easy task. It will take many hours of practice to pierce the balloon. The emotional war going on inside each of them has to be won by them alone and together, so they battle away the afternoon in a most entertaining challenge offered to them by Stone Creek Woman to get themselves back into the primal element of life in an undiluted, natural environment.
Until we meet again, Happy Valentine's<3 Day and love the one you're with!
