Subject: Mississippi's Best Awards Ceremony Battles Perception with Reality
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MISSISSIPPI’S BEST AWARDS CEREMONY BATTLES PERCEPTION WITH REALITY
What: 1st Mississippi’s Best Awards
Why: The NBC special “SEPARATE AND UNEQUAL” did much to highlight the areas that the state of Mississippi has yet to focus on for improvement, but failed to showcase all of the good that the state has accomplished and its natives have achieved. This was the reason the Mississippi’s Best Awards was created to celebrate the best of the state in over 40 categories, recognizing those who are making a positive impact on the state through their words and deeds. A portion of all ticket sales benefit non-profit organizations within the state. This year the recipients are the Rankin County Arts Alliance and HIV/AIDS organizations Building Bridges Inc., AIDS Action in Mississippi and Grace House.
When: Saturday, October 28, 2006 Where: TelCom Center, Downtown Jackson
