The Planning Committee of the Mississippi's Best Awards is pleased to announce that plans with Riley Entertainment Group in New York for the new hosts of BET's 106 and Park, Terrence J and Rocsi, to join the lineup of celebrity guests as part of the MS' Best Awards activities were finalized on Tuesday, September 19, 2006.
"We knew that BET would be an important facet of the national coverage that this event would get," says C. A. Webb, the Founder of the Mississippi's Best Awards. The premise of the event is to celebrate those who make the state the "best" it can be in over 40 categories including the arts, literature, music, sports, business and more. Though events will be taking place the entire weekend, beginning Friday, October 27, 2006 and concluding on Sunday, October 29, 2006, the main feature will be the awards ceremony on Saturday, October 28, 2006. BET is owned by the entertainment giant Viacom and was the first television station, locally or nationally, to not only mention the event during their news segment but also posted it on their website.
Terrence J and Rocsi will be special guests of the committee and will participate in the "Passion for Fashion" taping of Webb's television show CONVERSATIONS WITH C. A. WEBB along with Project Runway fashion designers Kara Saun, Daniel Franco and Angeal Keslar. This will be at 4:30p.m. in the TelCom Center Theater. Admission is $15 while supplies last! (A portion of ticket sales benefit HIV/AIDS awareness in the state of Mississippi.)
Webb goes on to explain why in his mind this development is so significant. "Most young people watch Terrence J. and Rocsi every day on 106 & Park. They relate to them. Those same young people probably will not be able to participate in any other facet of the events surrounding the MS' Best Awards other than the "Passion for Fashion" taping. The tickets for the taping are priced in such a way that they will be able to afford to attend the event and meet those who they respect so much. This will give them the opportunity to see where these guests came from, how they got to where they are as well as explain how anyone can do the same."
The duo will also join Lady Walker (of the Lady Walker Show), Alice Marie (of WJMI 99 JAMZ) on the red carpet beginning at 6p.m. to talk about the fashions and what others are looking forward to during the big awards dinner. Then at 7p.m. they will join the 300+ guests for the MS' Best Awards ceremony.
"BET and Viacom definitely came through for us in a big way on this one," remarks Jackie Watson-Loggins, Asst. Communications Director for the MS' Best Awards Planning Committee. "We can't thank Terrence, Rocsi and the entire BET family for their love and support of Mississippi's Best."
There are limited tickets available for the actual awards dinner for only $50.00 For more information, contact Jackie at 601.923.6461 or the planning committee at cawebb@cawebb.com.
