Join us on Thursday, November 15, 2007 as Conversations Book Club celebrates its 1 year anniversary.
It was one year ago that Stanley Clark and Cyrus A. Webb came together to form For The People Productions (Marketing and public relations firm) as a way to improve the great state of Mississippi. Webb's brainchild, Conversations Book Club, came about as a way to connect readers and authors. Now 12 months later we have hosted 26 authors in person as well as talked with over 60 authors via conference call---all to promote reading and book discussions.
Now Conversations Book Club is the largest literary organization in the state of Mississippi, and ranked the number searched book club in the state. Its website which was began in January 2007, averages over 600 hits a month, and has been viewed by bestselling authors all over the world. The Jackson-Hinds Library Association awarded the book club as an "Outstanding Community Program" in April 2007, and now Webb has partnered with a variety of organizations across the country to implement programs similar to Conversatoins elsewhere.
Conversations Book Club was the first organization in Mississippi to host New York Times Bestselling author Carl Weber and on December 10th it will be become the first book club to get an interview with Bestselling author Wahida Clark after eight years of being away.
According to published reports from book clubs across the nation, no other book club has hosted as many authors in person as Conversations in 2007---or snagged as many interviews from authors of all genres, ethnicities or locations--- over 120 interviews in all!
Conversations has been able to gather several exclusives since it began, snagging the only interviews this year with Bestselling authors Andrew Neiderman (the V. C. Andrews' ghostwriter), Father Andrew Greeley (just days before he became ill), Multi-Millionaire Phil Towns, John Saul and hosted the first-ever book tour for Platinum-selling recording artist/author Corey "C-Murder" Miller.
To help us celebrate, we invite you to Subway Restaurant in Pearl, MS (3000 HWY 80 E) at 7:30p.m. Our special guest will be author Fon James (BACK AND FORTH). During this time we will also be releasing the double issue of Conversations Magazine as well as our brand new Word Search book.
