It has been a movement that has caused a stir across the country since it was first announced in March 2008. Now the movement has a theme song. Shadow Play Entertainment and the Hiphop and Books Literacy Campaign can now confirm that Florida rapper Big G,18,has written and recorded the song "I'm Not the Same" as a tribute to the work that Hiphop and Books is doing in using recording artists to encourage reading and the importance of staying in school.
"We are excited about the work that Big G has put into this song and our cause," says Hiphop and Books Founder Cyrus A. Webb,33. Big G is in good company with the coalition. He joins Status Quo (MTV's America's Best Dance Crew), C-Murder (Asylum Records), Josh Gates (Universal Records), Jon Boy (VH1's Ego Trip's The White Rapper Show), C. James, Omega Red and Detail of Konvict Muzik, C. O. D. Records, Big A, Jack Squad, Eddie Wright, OndreaNicole, Shawty Jizzle, Chamber, Nino, Blak Circle, Duane Scott, Babs (formerly of Bad Boy's Da Band), fellow Florida rapper I-Beam and more.
A snippet of the song "I'm Not The Same" has been posted on the main page of http://www.hiphopandbooks.com. The song will be debut in its entirety on Monday, September 8, 2008 when Big G will be a guest on Webb's radio show Conversations LIVE! at 8p.m. CST (9p.m. EST). It can be heard online at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/conversationslive. After the release it will be sent to radio stations across the country in hopes of encouraging more artists to get involved as well as more music lovers.
