If djinns, demons, wiccans, ghosts, succubi or other beings that go bump in the night are your thing, then you've come to the right place! Did I also mention spicy, sensual, erotic stories? Well, those are here too!

The stories you will find here on my site and read about in The G-Spot and between the pages of my numerous books include all of the above paranormal elements and beings and more. The characters are every day people just like you and me, trying to survive and find love in a crazy mixed-up world. Okay, most of them might have a few gifts here and there that the rest of us don't, but otherwise, they are just like you and me, just a little larger than life .

======================================================
Welcome back to this issue of The G-Spot!

Hope you all enjoyed a wonderful St. Paddy’s Day and remembered not to drink and drive. Spring is here! Aren’t you happy? I know I am (well, except for my allergies). Hopefully with the advent of warm weather, we’ll get some major movie releases worth a crap. I don’t know about you, but for me it’s been a pretty dry couple of months for theatrical releases. The last month in particular I haven’t been terribly impressed with anything that’s come out and I don’t see anything on the near horizon that excites me (maybe WANTED with Angelina Jolie. I think I’ve outgrown INDIANA JONES, because I’m not even remotely curious enough to run out and see this, but that could change in the next couple of months…will keep you all posted ).

DVD’s/CABLE/MOVIES:

BABEL: One act of generosity between a Japanese hunter and his Moroccan guide turns into an international incident of tragic consequence when two young boys take target practice at random targets with their father’s newly-acquired rifle. The acting is great (of particular note is Rinko Kikuchi who plays grief-stricken and lovelorn Japanese teenager, Chieko. Her performance is heart-wrenching.). If you liked CRASH, then I’m pretty sure you’ll like this. Same type of premise, only the storyline takes place on a much wider and global scale. Be forewarned, parts of the movie are subtitled, though this did not detract from my enjoyment, others might feel differently.

JUMPER: Hayden Christensen plays David Rice, just one of a race of individuals who can teleport at will. David only discovers this ability by accident one day when he’s fifteen and out of desperation teleports to escape drowning beneath the frozen pound where he has fallen through the ice. On the other side of the equation are Paladins (led by the ubiquitous Samuel Jackson as Roland), a race of beings whose sanctioned mission it is to destroy Jumpers. I liked the premise but more enjoyed the action and special effects. The acting is complementary to the storyline. Nice twist at the end gave this one future franchise possibilities.

MEET THE SPARTANS/300: Like the SCARY MOVIE franchise, EPIC MOVIE and other spoofs of their ilk, this one was just plain silly. It elicited a few chuckles here and there, and the niece and nephews enjoyed it. In a related note, this spoof initially made it difficult for me to take 300 seriously when I started to watch it on cable a couple of months later. Thankfully, Gerry and his spot-on performance and fearless warriors helped me get over that hump real fast. This was an excellent movie with great action, well-choreographed fight sequences, intense pathos and flawless acting (gotta love that Sarah Connor as queen and wife of intrepid Spartan warrior and king ).

STEP UP 2: THE STREETS: Okay, I have to admit, I’m one serious fan of the current dance craze (just check my MySpace page to see some of my favorite shows ). Unlike in the first STEP UP, however, the dancing rather than the acting and story take center stage here. Energetic and creative dance sequences made this entertaining. The acting was serviceable, and though the lead actor and actress here didn’t have near the depth or chemistry as in STEP UP, several secondary characters (Adam G. Sevani as Moose was a humorous and talented stand-out) made this movie a winner for me.

THE HILLS HAVE EYES: The atomic-blast-fallout misfits are back and at it again doling out their special brand of carnage on a hapless and unsuspecting band of national guardsmen (and women) stranded in the desert. Typical Wes Craven gorefest with a passable storyline, action and acting, but this one, like all the others before it, REALLY gives mutants a bad name.

On the publishing front: EMILIA’S EMANCIPATION, the fourth story in my The Matchmaker series, was released this past 3/5/08 and reached Siren’s Top Sellers at the #9 spot its first week. I’m hoping this story does just as well, if not better, than the others in the series.

SENTINEL’S HUNGER, a Sisters of Emsharra novella was published a few days ago—St. Paddy’s Day —and appears in Rapture Volume 1 – Print Anthology. Read more about this fantastic collection, and my very talented and award-winning fellow authors that appear alongside, this newsletter!

Also, now available in print: ETERNAL DESIGNS and MANIFEST DESTINY!

As always, hope you enjoy this issue of The G-Spot!

WHAT I'M READING/RECOMMENDED READS: This year I’ve discovered a couple of new authors/series that I’m indulging until I can get my Black Dagger Brother fix in June. Not that these are poor substitutes by any means. Each has something new and different to offer to the Paranormal Romance genre and I’m glad I’ve read them and will continue to read them.

BLUE RUIN 1: SOME KIND OF STRANGER by Katrina Strauss: You may remember Kitty was my spotlight author a little while back and deservedly so. This book helped me to discover my inner yaoi fan. Multi-cultural, red-headed Dom and computer programmer Derek has been abused by a twisted Dom who likes causing his subs pain and enjoys taking them whether they’re willing or not. Derek rescues fresh and sassy sub Blue, from becoming a victim like him and together the two make a wild and sensitive pair. Great beginning to a new series that I am really looking forward to following. Available at http://www.loose-id.com

DOLPHIN DREAMS by Jules Jones: Unique premise and unique story. For those that have a problem with sex scenes between a human and a shapeshifter while the shapeshifter is in its animal form, then this book might not be for you. Not to mention the m/m/m, ménage themes. But if you’re intrepid enough and like your erotic romance well-written, hot and wild, then this book is for you. Available at http://www.loose-id.com

MIDNIGHT BREED Series (KISS OF MIDNIGHT, KISS OF CRIMSON and MIDNIGHT AWAKENING) by Lara Adrian: One of my Shelfari friends suggested this series to me since I was a fan of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Not as edgy as BDB though the Breed warriors are similar in size and mission to the Brotherhood. This series has enough of its own unique charms to keep readers interested without being a copycat despite its similarities. MIDNIGHT RISING is due out in a few days. Look out for it. I know I will be .

ONE GOOD HAND by : Another m/m erotic romance that falls in the realm of yaoi (yeah, I’m hooked) this one featuring a young card shark in Ace with demons from his past driving his desire to play and win and his new shadow, Spade, a mysterious young man who Ace wins in a poker match and who seems able to fulfill Ace’s every wish or need without being told what they are. The twist involving Spade’s origins is priceless and one I didn’t entirely see coming. Very satisfying read. Available from http://www.loose-id.com

PSY/CHANGELING Series (SLAVE TO SENSATION, VISIONS OF HEAT, CARESSED BY ICE) by Nalini Singh: This one gets hotter and sexier with each book. Intricate world-building involving the Psy/Changeling species, and multi-dimensional characterizations. Check out my ratings and reviews for this series so far on my shelf at http://www.shelfari.com/gwiz10

STRONG AND SEXY by Jill Shalvis: I am loving this series about the Sky High private airline company and the three sexy friends who run it, and can’t wait for the next one, SUPERB AND SEXY due out in May 2008. Read my full review for STRONG AND SEXY on my shelf at http://www.shelfari.com/gwiz10

Currently Reading: MINE TO POSSESS by Nalini Singh; MOON CALLED by Patricia Briggs; RAPTURE VOLUME 1; and THE MEMORY KEEPER’S DAUGHTER by Kim Edwards.

POETRY CORNER:

As You Sleep
by Gracie C. McKeever © 1996

Early hours waiting in
anticipation

The seduction began

Later evening titivation before
we came together again

I lay me down now, restive and
replete, my chin cradled in a
palm

Tottering on somnolent realms
I nod

You have already reached your
destination where, aroused and
insomnious, I cannot yet journey

Memories
your musk your taste your
hardness
block my path

With heavy lids I study the
gentle rise and fall of smooth
ridges, the rhythm behind their
steady motion a well-worn song
tickling senses, vibrating taut
edges of longing

Eyes glide beneath silken lashes
brushing high cheeks, flowing
back and forth in a familiar-fast
feather...you dream

And I wonder

NEW REVIEWS (EXCERPTS):

INGENUE’S CHOICE:

“…Keir is a top who’s been hurt; Patryk is a bottom who’s been abused. Finding a common ground where they can begin to heal isn’t easy. Gracie McKeever does an excellent job at pulling the past characters and the new characters together to create a tantalizing story that will hold you spellbound to the last word. Ingenue’s Choice is a wonderfully written paranormal love story, I Joyfully Recommend reading.” RECOMMENDED READ, by Raine, for Joyfully Reviewed. This is what I love about e-books…the long shelf life and their ability to garner (great ;) reviews even years after their release. Of course it helps to write a great book . This review is for my first published novel, still available ten years after its original release…wow:

NEW LIFE INCOGNITA

“New Life Incognita has a little something for everyone. Suspense, romance, humor, with a Wicca theme - reincarnation. The plot is fast paced with plenty of sharp curves to keep the readers interest. However, this is not a book for someone seeking a typical romance. The romantic relationship between Tyler and Kelly/Dagny was definitely outside the ’normal’ boundaries. Ms. McKeever did a wonderful job establishing their relationship….” 4.5 Books, Magnolia for Long and Short Reviews. To read the full review, visit here:

THE WOLF IN THE MANSION:

“Ms. McKeever has once again proven to be a winner in my book. The Wolf in the Mansion is a keeper, somehow I'll keep room on my crowded computer, unless it becomes available in print and I snag it for my shelf. Very well written and fluidly paced. It has that rare magic that has me floating along side the heroine in the book. Too bad I couldn't get the hero for myself. I will whole heartedly recommend this to all my paranormal loving friends out there over the internet.” 5 Roses, Robin S. for My Book Cravings. THIS ISSUE’S NOVEL EXCERPT:

Going Topless

BLURB:

Susannah never thought she'd end up 39, widowed and alone. Then her sister takes her on an impulsive trip to Amsterdam where a hot younger man reawakens her sexuality. But can she learn to love again?

EXCERPT:

As she scanned the beach, Susannah caught sight of two gorgeous dark-haired women to the left of them. She adjusted the new Gucci sunglasses she'd bought yesterday. "Are those women not wearing any tops?"
Hagen's gaze followed hers. "Yes. I mean, no. They are not."
"And that is okay here?"
"Why not?"
Why not? Well, there were families on the beach for one. Although the children playing in the water didn't even spare a glance toward the half-naked women.
Fascinated by the women's brazenness, her eyes drifted back to them. The topless twosome had smooth, cocoa-colored skin with firm, perky breasts. They were Italian or Spanish, perhaps. And as Susannah glanced around, she noticed they weren't the only two sunbathing exposed.
Hagen stared at Susannah, his brown eyes twinkling. "Why are you so curious? Would you like to take your top off?"
"No! No. Are you insane?" Her 34Bs would stay right where they belonged, under wrap. She glanced down at her navy halter. "The girls are fine and dandy as they are, thank you very much."
His fingers slowly made their way down her bikini neckline to the top of her décolleté. "They are very beautiful. You have nothing to hide." His knuckles stroked her intimately, and his voice came out low and husky.
A bead of sweat darted down her back, and it was as much from the heat of Hagen's words, as from the heat of the sun.
She cleared her throat. "I think I'll stick with hiding all the same."
"Yes. You must be good."
That was who she was. Good, proper, sweet, Susannah.
Hagen shrugged and reclined back. "It matters little to me. I only thought you might want to be less uptight."
Her spine stiffened. "I am not uptight. I merely choose not to show my breasts to all of the Netherlands."
"Okay."
"You don’t believe me?" she asked.
"Fine. You are right. Be yourself."
"Be myself?" Susannah said, puzzled. "Do you mean suit myself?"
"Ja, yes. Just do what you want."
"I will." She lay back down and closed her eyes, letting the sun beat down on her. She wasn't going to be talked into something so…wild. After all, she was nearly forty. And she was no exhibitionist.
She cracked her eyes open. "How come you’ve never asked me my age?"
"Because it doesn’t matter to me."
He said it so matter of fact. Maybe it didn’t matter. Maybe she was making way too much of this.
Susannah pushed herself back up and watched Chelsie and Mattie splash around in the water. Chelsie wore a hot Rio-style bikini, but Mattie had on a pair of shorts and a tank top. Mattie certainly didn't take any chances.
Is that how Susannah wanted to live? Respectable, modest, and boring?
She checked to be sure Courtney and her crew weren't paying any attention to them. This would probably be the stupidest, most ridiculous thing she'd ever done. But in one quick motion, she unhooked her halter-top and flung the scrap of silky material to the towel.
"Fantastisch," Hagen breathed as he stared wide-eyed at her. He let out a low whistle.
She moved toward him, her breast skimming his arm. The sensation made her nipple tingle and tighten. "Uptight, my ass," she whispered.
He laughed. "You are one amazing woman, Susannah."
Susannah rested back down with a smile on her face. The warmth of the sun hitting her boobs felt unfamiliar and more than a little naughty. She had to resist the urge to cover herself up with her hands. Hagen seemed completely comfortable to blatantly watch her.
"It's rude to stare," she teased. Yet he didn’t laugh. Hot desire burned in his eyes, and his eyes weren't the only thing responding.
"For a man who said he didn't care what I did, it certainly looks like you care."
He turned onto his stomach, and then smiled. "I lied."

THIS ISSUE’S AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT:
Renee Knowles is a sensual romance and women's fiction author, who loves to write stories of love and sexy, emotional journeys. She lives in Colorado with her husband and a view of the Rocky Mountains out of her window. Renee has traveled all over the world, living in both Europe and Asia. She has also visited Amsterdam twice, the setting for her debut book, GOING TOPLESS.

THE INTERVIEW:

GRACIE: I’m excited to have you here at The G-Spot, Renee! Please tell us a little about yourself and how and when you got into writing?

RENEE: Thanks for having me, Gracie! I suppose I’ve always wanted to write, and I’ve always been a storyteller. Even when I was just a little girl, I’d tell my mother stories all day (much to her chagrin!). But I really began writing seriously a few years ago. That’s when I knew romance and women’s fiction was my passion. It’s what I’ve enjoyed reading my whole life.

GRACIE: Is there any one thing or person in your life that inspired your writing?

RENEE: Even though he wasn’t a writer himself, I would say my dad. He inspired me in many ways, from helping me to be the best person I could be, to showing me how to be thankful for all my blessings. And he taught me that I could aspire to anything I wanted. Sadly, he passed on in 2006, but my debut book is dedicated to him.

GRACIE: Any one thing or person that influenced the genre you write in?

RENEE: Jane Austen, without a doubt. While it’s true she never met her Prince Charming, she was such a master at her craft and at romance. I would love to see what it was like to live in her head for a day. And to live in Regency times would be a dream come true—ah, minus the chamber pots. 

GRACIE: What do you know now about writing and the publishing industry that you wish you’d known before you started?

RENEE: Hmm, this is a tricky one. I’ve been studying the industry since almost before I began writing. Coming from an entrepreneurial past, I always knew that along with the joy of putting words on the page, came the need for promotion and marketing. I guess the one thing that I wished I’d known was that it’s always going to be hard work and determination. You don’t just get published in fiction, non-fiction, articles, or any type of writing, and then the rest comes easy. It’s always about working on your craft, promotion, and marketing.

GRACIE: Why don’t you share some of your current titles with us and give us a little story behind the story for each?

RENEE: My current release is called GOING TOPLESS. It’s an erotic chick lit that follows the story of three women looking for love and self-discovery. The main character, Susannah, is searching for renewed hope after the death of her husband.

Here is a short blurb: Susannah never thought she'd end up 39, widowed and alone. Then her sister takes her on an impulsive trip to Amsterdam where a hot younger man reawakens her sexuality. But can she learn to love again?

I actually had the story idea for GOING TOPLESS when I was living in Europe and vacationing in Amsterdam. It was such a rich, beautiful and romantic city. And I figured it was a perfect place to set a book about three women looking for love.

GRACIE: Of all the stories you’ve written, which is your favorite and why?

RENEE: I guess I would have to say, GOING TOPLESS. It’s such a fun story and the characters are so real. They have all the flaws we do. And the main hero, Hagen, is such a hot hunk of man!

I love the older woman—younger man stories. Especially when they can learn something from each other. Susannah not only learns how to open up sexually and reclaim her mojo, she also learns who she is and how to heal. Sometimes there are those special people who come into your life that leave an indelible mark on it.

GRACIE: Which of your characters is your favorite and why?

RENEE: As I love all of my characters, this is such a hard question for me! But, I suppose that Diana, the heroine of my upcoming erotic romance GUILTY PLEASURES, would stand out. She is tough—a real fighter. She’s had a difficult past and has raised herself up to become a successful business owner.

I love her strength and fortitude, but also the surprising vulnerability the hero brings out in her. He helps her learn that being strong doesn’t necessarily mean she has to close herself off. He also helps her open up sexually, and in one steamy scene, she even lets him tie her up! So, they balance each other perfectly.

GRACIE: What about your characters makes them unique and why?

RENEE: I often hear from readers that the reason that they like my characters is because they are real. I try to make all my characters “relate-able.” When you finish reading the book, I hope you will feel like you met some new friends. Also, they all have a little sass in them. I guess because I can get pretty sassy myself sometimes.

GRACIE: What is your favorite aspect of the writing process?

RENEE: When the writing goes so smoothly and so fast that you can’t even remember writing. You wake up the next day and look at your work and think, did I write this? Those are great days. Those are the days you become your characters.

GRACIE: Your least favorite?

RENEE: Having to market myself.

GRACIE: Are you a pantser or do you outline?

RENEE: Tough one! I think I do a little of both. I always know where I’m going, and I write a loose chapter outline. But I leave a lot of room for improvisation. I like to have some room to let things happen organically.

GRACIE: If you weren’t a writer, what other profession would you have chosen to pursue?

RENEE: Hmm, this may sound strange, but a professional matchmaker. I also write non-fiction articles and recently interviewed the owner of a matchmaker/dating service for a piece I was working on. It is an old-fashioned, personalized service that acts as dating coach as well as go between. They really impressed me, and it was obvious they cared about their members. I think I would love to help people find their mate. What better job than to help people fall in love?

GRACIE: Who are some of your favorite authors and why?

RENEE: I have quite a list. Maybe too many to list as I read in quite a few genres. But a few names that come to mind are Julia Quinn, Marian Keyes, Pamela Morsi, Zinnia Hope, and Mary Balogh. And I love your writing style as well, Gracie. In ZACK AND THE DARK SHAFT, you told the love story with a sensual and tender poignancy that really moved me.

GRACIE: You’re making me blush, Renee, but thanks so much and I’m glad you enjoyed the story . Now, back to YOU… Name some of your favorite books.

RENEE: As You Desire by Connie Brockway. The Viscount Who Love me by Julia Quinn. The Other Side of the Story by Marian Keyes. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

GRACIE: What are some of your favorite genres and why?

RENEE: I love romance, of course. I will read almost any genre of romance, but prefer historical and contemporary. I also love to read historical fiction, such as Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant. I actually bought that book in Italy while on my way to Florence to see the real Birth of Venus. And it was an inspiring book. What great writing!

I also love to read biographies and non-fiction. Especially stories of people who have overcome great odds.

GRACIE: What are you working on now? What should readers be looking forward to from you in the future?

RENEE: I have a new erotic contemporary series coming from Siren this year. It’s called PLEASURES, INC. and it’s about a male escort service—where the hottest men fulfill your steamiest fantasies, and they are there for your pleasure only…

The first book, GUILTY PLEASURES, will be out in summer 08. Here is a short blurb: Diana Grady stayed away from love, pouring her energy into making her escort service, Pleasures, Inc., a success. Until she hires sexy, intelligent Nick Duvane. She can't resist Nick's sensual words and steamy caresses. Then she discovers Nick is an undercover reporter who could destroy her company—and her heart.

It has been so much fun to write, and I’m super excited about the series.

GRACIE: Do you have a website and/or how can readers contact you?

RENEE: I love to hear from readers! They can e-mail me at renee@reneeknowles.com, or visit my website at http://www.reneeknowles.com. On my website, there is a sign-up form for my newsletter. I often hold newsletter-only contests, as well as have recipes, trivia and other fun stuff.

GRACIE: Where and how can readers purchase and/or read samples of your work?

RENEE: The best place for all my buy links and excerpts is to visit my website at http://www.reneeknowles.com

GRACIE: What advice do you have for beginning writers?

RENEE: Work hard. Don’t give up. Study your craft. Be willing to take constructive criticism. Study your genre and read widely.

Writing is hard work. I don’t think good writers ever stop studying their craft. But seeing your book published makes it all worth it.

GRACIE: Anything else about yourself or your writing you’d like to share?

RENEE: I guess that I love the unexpected. I believe it’s best to be open to anything, and to follow the paths that come your way. You never know what might happen.

GRACIE: Thanks so much for taking time from your busy schedule, Renee, to share yourself and your work with us at The G-Spot and giving us a little insight into your writing and the writing process! We’ll let you get back to writing those wonderful books you write! All the best!

RENEE: Thanks for having me, Gracie!
