Welcome back to this issue of The G - Spot!

Hope you’re all enjoying a wonderful Summer so far .

Mine is going well, full of nieces and nephews’ graduations and birthday parties…and of course, movies.

My nephew Jerome graduated from the 6th grade and garnered several awards. His sister Mosa graduated from Kindergarten and their older sister Nina graduated from high school. We’re so proud of all of the graduates!

We celebrated my niece Brianna’s 1st Birthday June 14th in a nearby park with plenty of grilled food and games for the kids. The party was threatened most of the day by rain, but we got in all our eating and playing in pretty sunny fashion before the deluge and escape out of the park to home .

Summer Movies: So far I've caught THE INCREDIBLE HULK, WANTED, HANCOCK, HELLBOY 2 and THE DARK KNIGHT this summer and I can't recommend each of them enough! If you're going to the movies for a pure adrenaline rush—action, great stunts, special effects, humor, a little romance, and some unexpected twists—all of these movies deliver said elements and more in spades.

Of the five, I can't pick a favorite as I love them all for different reasons.

THE INCREDIBLE HULK is a bit of redemption for the lousy HULK of a few years ago, so it had nowhere to go for me but up. Add to this fav actor Edward Norton, fast - paced plot, action, and great special effects and it had me at the opening credits.

WANTED, I've already seen twice, it's that good. Absolutely love Jolie in everything she plays and in here she does her thing in her usually hot and sexy kick - ass way. Morgan Freeman turns in an excellent performance as usual and MacAvoy was very convincing in his role as put - upon cube drone turned super assassin.

HANCOCK, ah, HANCOCK starring the King of The Fourth of July Will Smith as a misanthropic, foul - mouth, drunken anti - superhero. I LOVED this movie! The laughs start right from the opening scene along with the non - stop action. Excellent and unexpected twist involving the wife of Hancock's optimistic publicist Ray (Jason Bateman) that I didn't see coming. Of course, the ending gives the producers plenty of leeway for a sequel.

HELLBOY 2 was better than I expected, since I went in not expecting much or remembering much about the first movie. It had been one of those outings where the kids just wanted to go to the movies and it was the only movie out at the time that looked remotely entertaining. With HELLBOY 2, I took one of my nephews and we both enjoyed the humor (Ron Pearlman’s performance as the sarcastic and hot - headed anti - hero, is priceless), well - choreographed fight scenes and the fantasy elements.

THE DARK KNIGHT: I think a lot of people who aren’t even BATMAN fans went to see this for Heath Ledger’s performance. I have to admit being driving by a little morbid curiosity myself, though I am a BATMAN (and Christian Bale) fan. This one was a lot better than I expected, with lots of fast - paced action and a solid story good enough to sink you teeth into about political wrangling, police corruption and the general good vs evil nature of man. The performances by Bale, Caine, Freeman, Oldman and Eckhart are on point but it is Heath Ledger who steals the show. He’s gripping on screen as a totally depraved, sadist, psychotic killer and his performance deserves all the accolades its been receiving and more. It’s a shame he won’t be around for the next DARK KNIGHT movie.

All in all, these were five excellent starts and continuations to new and old franchises that I will definitely be looking forward to in the future.
On the writing front, work on my WIP BRUISED BUT NOT BROKEN: The Matchmaker 5 is moving along, just not as quickly as I’d like (like yesterday ).

But Midway steps up the heat and passion several notches in these two books which feature, as before, interracial relationships but with a BDSM theme, and love and romance in the corporate, job setting. MENAGERIE by Lara Santiago: I had the pleasure of being treated to a sneak peek of Lara Santiago’s MENAGERIE before its release at Siren and happily devoured it! This one had Lara’s trademark humor, fast - paced narrative and engaging characterization with the titillating addition of five very hunky and sexy heroes over which to drool instead of just the usual one . What’s a girl to do? Well if you’re one Valerie Thornhill, pleasantly plump accountant with a mother whose nagging her to settle down, get married and start giving her some grandchildren, you resist the powers that be—in this case a race of colorful alien beings who have abducted you—the best way you can and that is with guileless curiosity and wit. These weapons work fine up until Valerie meets her matches in five very handsome suitors who all need her for their continued existence, each with their own very distinct and attractive personalities: there’s Hauser, the negotiator and organizer who Valerie first encounters during her wandering trip through the alien craft; sweet Johnny with the artist’s soul; Mark the playful yet forceful charmer; shy and stuffy Frasier; then finally there’s big, bad intimidating Dominick…big, sexy, intriguing Dominick. No doubt Valerie has her hands full, but she proves to be up to the task of meeting the sexual demands of her group for the three - year term of service to which she has unintentionally agreed. If nothing else, Valerie is a trooper, but then the five hotties in this book make being a trooper so much less of a chore.

Lara handles each coupling with soul - searching sensitivity, juggling the multi - dimensional inter - personal relationships in and out of the bedroom with logic and style. The sex scenes are hot and sizzling, but more importantly, I loved the characters. Valerie is a feisty and intelligent heroine you can root for and empathize with and you certainly want her to get her happily ever after with all five of her heroes. That Lara makes this seemingly impossible scenario possible is a pleasing and revealing twist that I’ll leave up to the reader to discover.

AR: First of all, where in the world did you get the idea to write a story about a civilization of centaurs? Also, for our readers' sake, please explain precisely what a centaur is.

GCM: LOL, that's a good question, and the easy, short answer would be my inherent curiosity about and affinity for centaurs spawned Spells Cast in Shadows. Did I also mention I'm a Sagittarius? The long answer would be my love of epic fantasy like Lord of the Rings, specifically the movie version. After a viewing of the second installment, The Two Towers, I was inspired to write something that would excite and touch my readers as much as I had been touched by the adventure and romance in this movie. I also love reading and writing about shape - shifters but wanted to do something a little different than the typical werewolf or vampire story. I had been mired in my story about a merman when the idea to change the hero to a centaur living in a universe parallel to the human world struck; the story just took off after I saw The Two Towers. I haven't given up on the merman story yet, though….

Ty shot Chase a hard look, annoyed with him for enjoying this so much. He was annoyed with himself, too, for not being able to get the image of being gangbanged by a group of women led by Tessa Miller out of his mind. The idea made his cock throb with approval.
“We’re not expecting anything from you right now. Linda just wanted to check you out before we went over the details of your job,” Tessa continued, completely unaware of his distraction.
“Our job?”

“Kinky?” Chase grinned. “So, how kinky are you willing to go, sweetheart?”
“Didn’t they explain everything to you at the agency?”

Chase wondered what this agency was. The idea of a stripper came to mind. Perhaps she was hiring talent for a bachelorette party.
“Well, I’ll explain it all, but first let’s let Linda get a look at you. She’ll know better if you’re her husband’s type.”

“That’s what you think is sick?”
Tessa blushed. “Oh, jeez. I just keep putting my foot in my mouth. I didn’t mean anything by that.”
“Of course not,” Chase assured her.
“There’s nothing wrong with being gay or anything.”
“No there isn’t,” Ty agreed.
“I’m perfectly fine with it. Not that I’ve ever, you know, tried it that way.”
“Maybe you should,” Chase suggested. Now there was an image. Tessa didn’t appear to have heard him, but his dick certainly had.
“Even if you were a woman, I wouldn’t want you to sleep with Henry. That would hurt Linda and we just want to know if, well …”
“If he’s gay,” Ty filled in for her.
“Technically, bisexual.”
“Bisexual?” Ty blinked as the conversation became weirder. Tessa Miller was insane; cute, but loonier than a cuckoo clock.
“Well, because he’s married to a woman, he can’t be totally gay.” Tessa paused as if considering what she had just said. “I mean, not only gay. Whatever. You know what I mean. Anyway, I’m going to have to pick between you two.”
“Pick me.”
“What?” Ty’s mouth fell open at Chase’s offer.
“He’s a stick in the mud.” Chase jerked his head toward Ty.
“I am not!” Why the hell was he arguing about this?
“No fun at all.”
“Really?” Ty turned to confront his aggravating friend. “What about Lisa—”
“Gentlemen!” Tessa clapped her hands together, drawing their attention back to her.
“Sorry, Tessa.” Chase stepped closer to the little woman, causing his cock to push painfully against his slacks. He was already mentally betting himself how long it would take him to get her naked.
“You don’t mind if I call you Tessa, do you?” Chase used his most seductive drawl.
“That’s fine.” She patted him on the chest. “But I’m afraid that I’m going with the other gentleman.”
“What?” This time it was Chase’s jaw that dropped.
“Gee, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude.”
“I’m sorry, Chase, was it? Henry likes, well, refined things. And while you are quite attractive, you’re a little more bulky—”
“Are you calling me fat?”
“Thick.”
“Thick?”
“There is nothing wrong with your body, I’m sure you don’t have much body fat.”
Tessa eyed his heavily muscled body and felt a shiver pass over her. Definitely not much fat, but the man wasn’t paying attention to her look. He was still stuck on indignant.
“Less than six percent.”
“Six percent?” Tessa blinked.
“Body fat. Less than six percent body fat.”
“You know that?” Ty stared at Chase as if he had grown a second head.
“You don’t?”
“No. I don’t walk around with my measurements memorized. I’m not a woman.”
“What the hell do you mean by that?”
“Gentlemen! I don’t have time for a lovers’ spat. Can we—”
“A what?”
“He’s not my lover.” Chase gave Ty a superior look. “I could do better than him.”
“In your dreams.”
“Please, you can’t even afford to keep a man like me.”
“I wouldn’t want to!”
“Gentlemen!” Tessa clapped her hands, bringing their glares back to her. “Thank you. Now, do you own a suit?”
“Me?” Ty blinked. At her nod, he snorted. “I might have one.”
“It’s not cheap.” Tessa cringed at the word. “Is it?”
Chase bit back his laughter. “Oh, God. This is too weird.”
“I have a nice pinstriped one.” Ty knew it then. He’d caught the disease. Tessa wasn’t just out of her mind. She was contagious.
“You’re too thick for pinstripes.”
“I am not.” It was a damn handmade suit and he looked fabulous in it, turned women’s heads. Hell, he turned men’s heads too.
“Perhaps, we could just get you a pair of charcoal slacks and a nice sweater that matches your hair. You have beautiful hair.”
“Thank you. I think.” Ty wasn’t sure if being called beautiful was a compliment for a man, since nobody had ever called him that.
“It’s very thick and the color is amazing, but it’s a little long.”
“It is?”
“Maybe some fake glasses will help make you look more scholarly and less, well construction.”
Ty took a deep breath. His fascination with Tessa and her strange comments aside, he needed to be an adult and set her straight.
“I think we need to discuss something a little more pertinent than glasses and haircuts.”
“Really? What?”
“We’re not what you think we are.”
“I’m sure most of your jobs are just to escort women or men to functions and be a pleasant date.” Tessa spoke quickly, fearing they were trying to back out of the job. “I imagine this would be a little disconcerting for you. Don’t worry. It’s all aboveboard. Henry is not going to come after you, so don’t sweat it.”
“Yeah, Ty. It’s all aboveboard, so loosen up.”
“Chase!”
“Here.” Tessa held out a photograph, a wedding picture, to be exact. Ty stared at it in confusion.
“What is that?”
“A picture of Henry.”
“What do I want that for?”
“So you know who to hit on.”
“I’m not gay!”
“It’s all right if you are.”
She gave him a condescending pat on the arm that made Ty’s teeth grind together. He was hard, painfully so thanks to the nut job in front of him, and she was insisting on setting him up with a man. It was more than he could take. There was one way to prove the point to her.
Without a word, he grabbed Tessa’s shoulders and yanked her close until her soft breasts flatted against his chest. He caught a glimpse of her startled expression right before his kissed her.

AUTHOR BIO: I live near Charleston, SC with my two biggies (my dogs). I have had a slightly unconventional life. Moving almost every three years, I’ve had a range of day jobs that included everything from working for one of the worlds largest banks as an auditor to turning wrenches as an outboard repair mechanic. I’ve always regretted that we only get one life and have tried to cram as much as I can into this one.
Throughout it all, I’ve always read books, feeding my need to dream and fantasize about what could be. An avid reader since childhood, as a latchkey kid I’d spend hours at the library earning those shiny stars the librarian would paste up on the board after my name.
I credit my grandmother’s yearly visits as the beginning of my obsession with romances. When she’d come, she’d bring stacks of romance books, the old fashion kind that didn’t have sex in them. Imagine my shock when I went to the used bookstore and found out what really could be in a romance novel.
I’ve working on my own stories for years and have found a particular love of erotic romances. In this genre, women are no longer confined to a stereotype and plots are no longer constrained to the rational. I love the anything goes mentality and letting my imagination run wild.
I hope you enjoyed running with me and will consider picking up another book and coming along for another adventure.

THE INTERVIEW:

GRACIE: I’m excited to have you here at The G - Spot, Jenny! Please tell us a little about yourself and how and when you got into writing?

JENNY: Hey Gracie! I’m happy to be here. Wow, when did I start writing? That’s a hard question. Since I was a little kid I was always an avid reader. I use to tell my mom bedtime stories, so it was natural that as I learned to write in school, I started writing. I began my first book in seventh grade about a character named Major Mess.

As for my personal life, I think I’m becoming the crazy lady with two many pets. The lights of my life are my two dogs and three cats. I’m pretty much a hermit and you’ll either find me playing with the dogs, reading or writing.

GRACIE: Is there any one thing or person in your life that inspired your writing? Any one thing or person that influenced the genre you write in?

JENNY: I had one of those moments in elementary school. I was not a great student, but even worse in English. My fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Flemming, assigned us to write a short story – just two pages. When she was giving them back, she said mine really “spoke” to her and had me read it in front of the class.

She was probably just being a good teacher and trying to encourage me, but at that age I didn’t understand her motives and thought “wow, I’m good at this”. It gave me the confidence to keep writing. Despite that, strangely enough, I still didn’t much better grades in English.

GRACIE: What do you know now about writing and the publishing industry that you wish you’d known before you started?

JENNY: I’m still new to the publishing side of things, so I’m still learning. One thing that has definitely changed for me is my attitude. I use to thing I write it, send it to a publisher and move on. Now I realize how much self - promotion an author is responsible for. From chats, to websites, to blogs, I’m trying to figure out all the ins and outs of promotion. It’s like playing catch - up.

GRACIE: Please, give us a little story behind the story and how you came to write DECEPTION.

JENNY: DECEPTION was originally written for a contest, but I couldn’t obey the word count restriction. Honestly, I was just having fun with the story. It’s a light book, almost comedic in the way the characters interact with each other. That wasn’t so much of my intent, but my attitude when writing it.

GRACIE: Of all the stories you’ve written, which is your favorite and why?

JENNY: Wow, that’s another hard question. I guess my favorite would be CATTLEMAN’S CLUB: PATTON’S WAY. The thing that I love about that book is the fact that there are three heroes, all distinct in personality. They are all pitted against Patton, who is like a pit - bull with her determination to get what she wants. I just love the way they constantly clash.

GRACIE: I know this is like asking a mother which is her favorite child, but which of your characters is your favorite and why?

JENNY: Well, the book isn’t finished yet, but Lillian Mathews. She makes her debut in Taming Samantha, the sequel to Mating Claire, and will be the heroine in the third book. I love Lilly because she’s such a complicated character.

She’s more capable than the men around her and she knows it, so she’s very arrogant. She also has a big secret. I can’t give it away, but she’s not as human as everybody thinks she is. This makes it difficult for her to truly empathize with other people.

Even though she is good at her core and is always helping, she constantly says the wrong things at the wrong time and the other characters just don’t like her. Lilly knows that she’s not well received and that does hurt her, but it also makes her more unwilling to conform.

I like the way she develops as a character. I think we all have that part of us that’s sensitive and defensive at the same time. It makes her easy to connect with and root for.

GRACIE: What about your characters makes them unique and why?

JENNY: I think one of the major things that makes my characters unique is the amount of dialog in my books. I have the gift of gab, as my mother always said, and I’ve given that to almost all my characters. A reader really gets to know my characters in a different way, because they are always talking.

GRACIE: What is your favorite aspect of the writing process? Your least favorite?

JENNY: My favorite part of writing is laying in bed and daydreaming. I write all my books in my head first. I get so many ideas for stories that I can’t possibly write them all. The ones that do make it into print are normally the ones I craft almost like a movie playing out in my daydreams. Everything gets tweaked and tuned during that phase. When I sit down to write my focus is very clear.

Least favorite is easy, editing the same book nine times. Then I submit it and have to go through another round of edits. Sometimes it feels like you’re just never going to be done.

GRACIE: Are you a pantser or do you outline?

JENNY: I’m a mutt. I have so many story ideas that come to me, but not enough time to write them. I outline them for safekeeping. When I go to write the story, I just use the outline as a springboard.

I also do it kind of in the reverse. While I write a story, I outline it. That way if I need to make changes or I feel like I should have taken a different direction, I can use the outline to work out the plot/character developments.

GRACIE: If you weren’t a writer, what other profession would you have chosen to pursue?

JENNY: I know it’s not most people’s dream job, but I love to work retail. I love customers and interacting with people. I love setting up floor displays and decorating the store for the different holidays. I love guessing what the new “trends” will be and constantly trying to keep the inventory at the right levels. It even has the numbers side, where you have reconcile the registers and figure out your daily cash flows. To me retail management has all the different aspects that utilize a person’s ability to their fullest.

GRACIE: Who are some of your favorite authors and why? Name some of your favorite books. What are some of your favorite genres and why?

JENNY: Right now I’m in love with a new author I discovered recently Shayla Black. She’s kind of a darker, more erotic version of Elizabeth Lowell. By far her book Wicked Ties is one of my all time favorites.

I’m really a narrow reader. I love romances/erotic romances and spend too much money on them to have the money left over to read other genres.

GRACIE: What are you working on now? What should readers be looking forward to from you in the future?

JENNY: I’m supposed to be working on the third book in the Sea Island Werewolf series and the second book in the Cattleman’s Club series, but honestly my focus has turned to a new turn. I’ve been outlining three books for a new series, loosely titled When Good Goes Bad. It’s a new direction for me, because it’s a darker, more dramatic series than what I normally write.

GRACIE: What advice do you have for beginning writers?

JENNY: The best advice I can give is don’t be one of those people who thinks they have to read all the how - to books before you begin submitting. I’ve seen a lot of writers get lost in reading books on how to write a query letter, how to get published, the do’s and don’ts of marketing. Just relax, take a deep breath and dive in. If you really want a book to help guide you, do yourself a favor and check the library – no need to spend money on those books.

GRACIE: Anything else about yourself or your writing you’d like to share?
