Welcome back to this issue of The G - Spot!

Spring is here! And in New York it came in with, you guessed it, SNOW. Didn't stick, thankfully, but some big old flakes came down for quite a few hours in the morning.

Hope everyone else in their corners of the world is enjoying a great and safe spring so far.

HIGHLIGHTS (since my last newsletter) – CABLE, DVD’s, THEATRICAL RELEASES:

100 FEET: Marnie Watson has a very big problem. She’s been convicted of killing her abusive, police officer husband in self - defense. Two years later she’s out of prison and serving the rest of her sentence under house arrest in the brownstone where she killed her husband. The big problem is, Mike Watson does not want to let go of the corporeal world and is haunting the brownstone and Marnie with frightening and tragic results. This movie featured good solid performances by Famke Janssen as the abused and haunted wife and Bobby Cannavale as Mike’s partner Shanks who spends his days and nights hounded by guilt for not protecting Marnie when he should have and alternately staked out in front of the Watson’s brownstone waiting for Marnie to slip up so that he can send her back to jail. 100 FEET is a well - done sleeper and a gem with several unexpected twists and turns and a unique premise that separates it and makes it a better - than - average ghost story that I recommend for fans of the genre. 4 out of 5 stars.

CHANGELING: Single mother Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie) lives in a working class suburb of Los Angeles with her son Walter. Her life is forever changed when she is unexpectedly called in to work on a weekend and leaves her son at home alone. Upon her return to find Walter missing, Christine puts in a call to the police but is given the run - around by bureaucratic red - tape. It gets worse when the police do bring back her son several long months later and Christine realizes the boy they have returned to her is not her son. Determined to bring the LAPD’s corrupt practices to light, Christine is deemed an unfit mother and falsely imprisoned in a mental institution. It is up to local activist Reverend Briegeleb (John Malkovich) to get Christine released and help in the search of her still missing son. This movie is based on a true chain of tragic events that occurred in Prohibition Era Los Angeles. Jolie gives an outstanding performance as a mother willing to move heaven and earth to get back her son. Eastwood’s direction is spot - on, but neither of these can make up for the anticlimactic and heart - wrenching ending. 5 out of 5 stars.

DEFIANCE: This was an EXCELLENT movie and a true story based on the four Jewish Bielski brothers—Tuvia, Zus, Asael and Aaron—whose farmer parents are murdered by the Nazi occupiers. The four brothers go out into the Belarussian forests where they meet other survivors of the Nazi occupation, band together, build a community and become resistance fighters. Each brother has his own way of coping with their loss and trying to outlast the Nazi’s occupation. Tuvia (Daniel Craig), though a smuggler in his previous life and a fighter who wants revenge for his wife and parents’ deaths as much as anyone, is more protective of the non - fighters in the village that he and his brothers build and tries to foster a community as well as battle. Zus (Liev Schreiber) is bent on seeing those responsible for his parents’ and so many other Jews’ deaths punished. He and several other resistance fighters break with the village to join the Russian army and play a more proactive role against the Nazis. Asael falls in love and takes a “forest” wife. The acting in this movie is excellent (Craig and Schreiber are definite stand - outs) and the visual effects and battle sequences are well - choreographed and exciting. This is a triumphant story of courage, revenge and survival but also, ultimately a well - told story of man’s capacity for forgiveness, empathy and love. 5 out of 5 stars.

MR. BROOKS: Earl Brooks (Kevin Costner) is a successful businessman held in high esteem by his peers. He’s just been named Portland’s man of the year. Happily married with a beautiful wife and a daughter in college, Mr. Brooks is hiding a terrible secret: he’s a serial killer better known as the Thumbprint Killer. He goes to AA meetings to keep his urges under control and has been inactive for two years but his alter ego Marshall (William Hurt) will not be denied, and Marshall’s thirst for killing must be quenched. Marshall talks Mr. Brooks into a killing the evening of his award win and for the first time in his career as the Thumbprint Killer, Mr. Brooks leaves behind incriminating evidence: a witness who has photographed his latest kills. The witness is a voyeuristic apartment dweller (Dane Cook) who lives across the street from the murdered couple’s building and for quite some time now has been getting off on watching the couple have sex, an easy enough task since they leave their window curtains wide open. Mr. Brooks was sloppy and didn’t notice. On the trail of Mr. Brooks is a tough and intelligent female detective in Tracy Atwood (Demi Moore). Atwood has a couple of problems of her own, the least of which is a gold - digging husband who’s trying to sue the independently wealthy detective for millions in exchange for a quickie divorce. Additionally, Atwood has put away lots of unsavory people over the years and one such person has escaped prison and has Detective Atwood in his sights. Convoluted plot and all, this was an excellent suspense thriller, with enough twists and turns in it for at least three movies. The performances were credible and suitable to the material. Hurt was especially fiendish and funny as Mr. Brooks’ alter ego Marshall. 4 out of 5 stars.

OUTLANDER: Kainan (James Caviezel) is a soldier from a distant world and time who crash lands on Earth during the reign of the Vikings while chasing a Moorwen from his world. Moorwens are the equivalent of a dragon on our world and Kainan enlists the help of the Vikings—who have first imprisoned him then befriended him once he has proven his worth—to kill the Moorwen. I enjoyed the melding of Kainan’s futuristic fighting techniques with that of the Vikings’. There’s also a plausible romantic element enmeshed with all the action and adventure to make this a pretty decent scifi romance. 3 out of 5 stars.

PAUL BLART: MALL COP: Kevin James plays earnest and lovelorn security guard Paul Blart who takes his job very seriously. A good - natured and devoted family man Paul has applied to become a cop for several years but always fails the physical part of the exam because of his hypoglycemia. One day the mall where Paul works is overtaken by a gang of well - organized criminals who take several hostages. Among the hostages is a mall vendor named Amy for whom Paul has romantic feelings and makes it his duty to save. Kevin James is perfect as Blart, making the character as much a sympathetic hero as an incompetent clown, though there are several LOL moments with James center stage. Think Die Hard with a generous romantic and comedic twist and James as the action hero in the Bruce Willis role. This one is a winner for kids and adults alike. 3 out of 5 stars.

PUSH: Psychically gifted American Nick Gant (Chris Evans) lives abroad in Japan years after the murder of his psychically gifted father by a sinister government agency called Division. Nick reluctantly joins forces with another young American living abroad, Cassie Holmes (Dakota Fanning) who can see the future and wants to take down Division with his help. This was like an extended HEROES episode on speed. Also some shades of the BOURNE and MISSION IMPOSSIBLE franchises with lots of action and the old switcharoo - who's - got - the - case - with - the - syringe - in - it scenario with several different factions after the case for different reasons. Though the convoluted plot made the action a little hard to follow at times, I enjoyed the action and adventure, but specifically the fight scenes between the two telekinetics or "movers" as they were referred to in the movie (Chris Evans and Neil Jackson as a Division henchman). I loved seeing Dakota in this grown - up role and thought she did a fantastic job as a teen who wants revenge against the organization imprisoning her gifted mother. But then I’ve loved Dakota since I AM SAM. Djimon Hounsou was also excellent as the lead villain and once again Evans does a convincing turn as the grudging action hero, a part he played so well in one of my favorite movies—CELLULAR . 3 out of 5 stars.

REDBELT: This little gem is not what it seems, especially as the title would have the viewer believe. Part martial arts movie but more a drama with a bit of intrigue and suspense thrown in, this is the story of one peaceful and disciplined war veteran and martial arts teacher who has his livelihood threatened and integrity tested when he gets involved with some Hollywood types and fight sponsors who steal his ideas to promote a fighting competition. Chiwetel Ejiofor is excellent in this star turn as mixed - martial arts instructor Mike Terry, a man of strong principles who tries to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds to prove honesty is the best policy. The climactic fight scene is worth the price of admission. 4 out of 5 stars.

ROGUE: A group of riverboat passengers in Australia become stranded on a tiny island after a giant crocodile attacks and cripples their boat during their tour. Among the passengers is an American travel writer (Michael Vartan) who develops into an unlikely and reluctant hero when the tourists become fodder for the crocodile and are picked off one by one. The travel writer, riverboat captain and remaining tourists must figure out a way to get off the island—which is gradually receding beneath the incoming tide—as night falls and without becoming the crocodile’s next meal. The level of drama, tension and suspense as opposed to blood and gore makes this one a better - than - average horror movie. 4 out of 5 stars.

SLUMDOG MILLIOINAIRE: Mumbai brothers Salim and Jamal go through hell and high water to climb from the slums where they were born to make something of themselves in the world. Both brothers take divergent paths to success, using the knowledge and skills at their disposal. Younger brother Jamal takes the high road, using his knowledge and experiences on the way to adulthood to become a contestant on an Indian version of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” and Salim does what he knows best and takes up with a Mumbai gangster. Jamal, however is accused of cheating, taken into custody by the Indian government and interrogated. During the interrogation, Jamal and Salim’s perilous childhood is revealed and we learn how Jamal knows the answers. We also meet the young girl who plays an integral part in the boys’ life stories and who will ultimately come between Jamal and Salim. I managed to catch this movie the evening before the Oscars. I had to see what all the to - do was about. It was worth the trip, but with all the myriad, excellent, nominated movies I’ve seen this award season (MILK, GRAN TORINO, THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMINE BUTTON, CHANGELING, THE WRESTLER, etc.) I don’t know if it deserved the prize for Best Picture. I will say that it is an excellent and sensitively told love story on a couple of levels (the love and self - sacrifice between two brothers and the love between the brothers and a girl). It’s a triumphant story, too, of survival, struggle and redemption with a fantastic, Hollywood ending. Or should I say Bollywood ending ? 5 out of 5 stars.

STREET KINGS: Cynical LAPD vice cop and widower, Tom Ludlow (Keanu Reeves) is having a major crisis of conscience after killing Korean gang members responsible for the kidnapping and enslavement of two Korean teenage girls. Touted as a hero cop by his ambitious and corrupt Captain, Jack Wander (Forest Whitaker) and the media, Ludlow refuses to let himself off the hook. When a former partner is murdered in an apparent convenience store robbery soon after coming clean to Internal Affairs about dirt in the department, Ludolow proceeds to seek redemption and hunt down the perpetrators at the risk of his job and the expense of his current partners and unit. Based on a book by Elmore Leonard, this police drama features an action - packed plot full of intrigue from beginning to end with a star - studded cast, and an excellent screenplay highlighted by Leonard’s trademark realistic and snappy dialogue. 4 out of 5 stars.

TAKEN: Liam Neeson plays former spy and divorced father Bryan Mills who is doing his best to reconnect with his teenage daughter and make up for all the years he missed working and traveling away from his family. His past livelihood and expertise as a government agent, however, serves him well when his daughter is abducted and forced into the slave trade by Albanese human traffickers during a trip to Paris. This one had non - stop action and Neeson is excellent as a father determined to get his daughter back to him safely at all costs. 4 out of 5 stars.

THE WRESTLER: Mickey Rourke gives a star turn in this ironic performance as professional wrestler Randy “The Ram” Robinson who is twenty years past his prime but still fighting in low - budget matches across the country on the independent circuit and working part - time as a grocery store employee to make ends meet. Randy suffers a career ending illness after a match that brings him to the realization that he will die alone and soon if he doesn’t change his ways. To avoid a lonely and desolate existence he tries to reconcile his relationship with his estranged daughter who he abandoned when she was a young child and also advance his relationship with an aging stripper to a romantic rather than solely sexual level. 5 out of 5 stars.

UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS: I caught this the weekend it premiered and I have to say it was worth getting up and going out into the cold for! This movie had great visual effects, great acting (especially Michael Sheen’s performance ) and a great love story. I loved Lucian and seeing the birth of the Lycans and how they were made slaves and abused by the vampires made me really sympathetic toward the Lycans’ plight. I didn’t miss Kate Beckinsale like I thought I would. Rhona Mitra does an admirable job as the female lead and Lucian’s devoted and sexy lover. The love scenes were hot and sensual, but very tastefully done. I actually could have done with more of them. I'd love to see another UNDERWORLD movie, but wonder how it will play out, at least for me, feeling the way I do about the Lycans now—as they are not monsters or bad guys, just beings trying to survive the same way the vampires and death dealers are. 4 out of 5 stars.

She lay awake in her large bed and thought about Royce being so close. She relived the way he’d kissed her in the pantry and sighed as she remembered the way he’d loved her after the christening. He’d freed Angela that day, although he probably never realized it. She wasn’t about to tell him, just yet. What he had done was make her realize that she was a normal woman who needed to get away from her meddling family before she wound up married to the man her father chose.
After he left, she finally made up her mind to change her life. No matter how it turned out, she knew she had to try for her own sanity. Royce had understood that wasn’t the time to touch her, he held her as she slobbered and cried, and stroked her hair and back, while reinforcing to her it would be all right in time.
Well, she decided, time was here and now. And tomorrow, if she could work up the courage, she might just surprise Royce with a few tricks of her own. It would be interesting to see if he accepted hr advances or if he’d be turned off by her forwardness.

Author Bio: Having been born and raised on Long Island, New York, my husband and I were both eager to leave the urban lifestyle behind us and explore our future. With his encouragement, I’m living my dream of writing romance novels full time. Our new rural setting allows us to enjoy time together and gives me guiltless hours to let my imagination go and indulge my other passion. When I realized my works consistently tended toward the erotic, I gave myself permission to explore places in my mind I might not venture in real life.

THE INTERVIEW:

GRACIE: I’m excited to have you here at The G - Spot, Lillith! Please tell us a little about yourself and how and when you got into writing?

LILLITH: I started reading Harlequin novels while babysitting in my teens. Until then I was strictly a television girl. But the happy ever after ending caught me on the first story.
While not always a reality in real life, I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed by the stories.
It took me until my 40’s when we relocated south to actually sit down and start a project.
My wonderful husband bought me my first computer and I haven’t stopped yet!

GRACIE: Is there any one thing or person in your life that inspired your writing? Any one thing or person that influenced the genre you write in?

LILLITH: Harlequin romances - Betty Neels wrote the first one I read. She was so descriptive I was drawn into her world immediately and went to the library to find more of her stories.

GRACIE: What do you know now about writing and the publishing industry that you wish you’d known before you started?

LILLITH: That E - publishing existed. For the first years I kept sending out my chapters, snail mail, and waiting for the rejects. Then my husband took me to an internet class and had my computer hooked up to it. My first submission was my first contract.

GRACIE: Please, give us a little story behind the story and how you came to write HER ALPHA MALE.

LILLITH: Her Alpha Male has been brewing inside me since childhood. I spent every weekend with the Italian side of my family and obviously it left deep impressions on me. Mostly, that the world outside the family was so different, so free and liberal.

GRACIE: Please list some of your other titles and tell us a little bit about them.

LILLITH: My first published was THE ICE PRINCESS through Cobblestone Press. It was a finalist in the 2008 EPPIE Awards. It takes place in a world of ice I designed.
The Spying Maid and Never Enough came next, both from Cobblestone Press.
Then THE VIRGIN WIDOW was released through Forbidden Publications. It has a historical setting with a mystery side.

JUST ONE NIGHT was released through Siren Publications. It’s set in l947 Miami, FL.
What happens on a life boat is one thing; but what happens when reality returns?
The Viking Savior came next through Cobblestone Press. It’s an historical setting with a love that never should have happened, but did and lives were changed.
Her Alpha Male is my latest through Siren Publications. It’s about taking control of your own life, regardless of what the rest of a domineering family thinks is right.

GRACIE: What about writing paranormal romance do you enjoy? What about writing erotic romance do you enjoy? What do you think the challenges are of each?

LILLITH: My paranormal romances haven’t been contracted so I imagine I’m not very good at them. LOL

I started writing straight romance but found the erotic element fought its way forward. When I allowed myself to explore places I might not in real life, my imagination came to life. My characters fulfill fantasies for me.

GRACIE: Of all the stories you’ve written, which is your favorite and why?

LILLITH: Hard question to answer. Probably THE ICE PRINCESS. She was the first published and the most descriptive world I created. The images always give me a chill when I read it.

GRACIE: I know this is like asking a mother which is her favorite child, but which of your characters is your favorite and why?

LILLITH: Do I have to have a favorite - again, Dara from THE ICE PRINCESS. She’s strong willed and knows her mind. Exploring her sexuality with Ulrich is a bonus!

GRACIE: What about your characters makes them unique and why?

LILLITH: Every one of them has a bit of me in them. I won’t tell you which parts, but each female has a slice of me incorporated.

GRACIE: What is your favorite aspect of the writing process? Your least favorite?

LILLITH: I love to sit at the computer and write. The feeling of accomplishment is like nothing other, I’m still amazed when I finish a day and realize there’s some really good stuff there.

My least favorite is the blogging. Not for the blog itself, but every site is so different, I always feel intimidated when I blog, not knowing if I’m doing it right! You’d think by now it would get easier, instead, I seem to be losing ground with new technology.

GRACIE: Are you a pantser or do you outline?

LILLITH: Generally, my stories are outlined. I keep spiral note books with bits of dialogue and settings. I always research my characters, especially if the time period is historical.

I start a file for each story with photos and pictures. What each main character would look like, what their homes, bedrooms, work rooms look like. It’s just easier for continuity. On occasion I’ve started writing one story and had it force itself in a different direction. Those I just go with and decide when their finished if they feel right.

GRACIE: If you weren’t a writer, what other profession would you have chosen to pursue?

LILLITH: Film. Not so much actual acting, but the process behind the camera fascinates me. Of course being the producer/director would give me control - I like control!

GRACIE: Who are some of your favorite authors and why? Name some of your favorite books. What are some of your favorite genres and why?

LILLITH: Betty Neels Harlequin stories. I’ve reread them often. I always have a paperback in my pocketbook when I go out, it’s usually a Harlequin. Right now, I’m re - reading one of hers.

Nora Roberts is also a favorite, and and all of hers, including her J. D. Robb stories. My absolute favorite is Montana Sky, (G.P. Putnam’s Sons, l996) The best first line of any story I’ve ever read; “Being dead didn’t make Jack Mercy less of a son of a bitch.”

GRACIE: What are you working on now? What should readers be looking forward to from you in the future?

LILLITH: I work on several projects at once. When I hit a dead end I move to something else until I can work out the details. Coming March 5th from Forbidden Publications will be HER DARK DRAGON. It centers around ‘netsuke’ which are small ivory carvings in erotic positions. They were the catalyst for this story.

From SirenBookstrand Deceptions Revealed and Magnificent Abandon will release this summer. Deceptions Revealed is total romance while Magnificent Abandon is about finding the right partner to explore your sensuality with.

GRACIE: Do you have a website and/or how can readers contact you?

GRACIE: Where and how can readers purchase and/or read samples of your work?

GRACIE: What advice do you have for beginning writers?

LILLITH: Just keep writing! When I was getting constant rejections I took it personally.
Now I write the editor a thank you note, even for the rejection, because they usually give me a reason they didn’t buy it. That gives me a new perspective on how to edit the story.

GRACIE: Anything else about yourself or your writing you’d like to share?

LILLITH: I think reading is a very personal thing and understand not everyone will ‘get’ my stories or sense of humor. Some won’t want to explore the erotic sides I choose. I’ve decided to be true to myself as the author and not let society edit my writing. If you don’t want to read about steamy lovers who go beyond the norm and experiment in ‘forbidden places’ I’m not the author for you. I hope each book makes the reader squirm a bit in their seat while reading. While I don’t expect every reader to start experimenting with toys or bondage, that’s okay. Maybe it will spark their imaginations in a different direction that they will enjoy. I just want to keep my characters true to themselves.
