Happy Holidays! I am enjoying watching another big snowstorm drop several feet of snow on my deck and hillside. It is nice and warm inside, but the birds and animals are scarce.

1. Tales From The Trips

November kept me home by the fire. The biggest jaunt was a drive across the lake for a block party event with three other prominent writers. Merchants offered discounts for locals and visitors alike. The day was filled with food, fun, and laughter.

Afterwards, I joined author William Sarabande (aka Joan Cline) and some of my artist pals at a gallery reception. The collection features local talent and
they were celebrating the recent expansion of the facility. Filled with ceramics, watercolors,
oils, photography and other works, the place is a feast for the senses. They also tantalized guests with tasty treats and beverages. If you are looking for a unique
gift, I can recommend you visit Big Bear’s four galleries during your quest.

Another fabulous event was the opening gala for the new library bookstore. I didn’t need any more books, but wouldn’t you know it—I came home with three more. Honestly, I am definitely a bibliophile! (I am only reading about 12 at the same time, not to mention the research reading for my new manuscript.)

Finally, one of the highlights of the month had to be the fabulous dinner with a regional manager for Baker & Taylor (one of the largest book distributors
in the United States). Good food, great company, and intense conversation definitely made it one of the most enjoyable evenings of November!

2. December News

The manuscript is coming along nicely. I unfortunately had to turn down a contract offer and subsequently decided to seek an agent. The good news is that I am now represented by a New York literary agency and have two other publishers interested in the new manuscript. So stay tuned!

3. Pets! Column Comments

Thanks to all of you who have submitted questions for the new column. This week I received some more interesting questions about squirrels, cat behavior,
and even coyotes! I will begin posting these columns online next year. You’ll be able to access them from my website or this newsletter.

4. Online Writers Group

The Alliance of Writers just celebrated four years of success! Each November I reassess and determine the direction of the group for the following year.
What does this mean? In addition to workshops and teleseminars, 2005 will include a new online writing group.

The 2004 workshops were very successful and I’ve had inquiries (and participants) from all over southern California. People from Arizona and Australia want to attend, too! So, in consideration of travel and time
constraints, I thought it would be a good idea to start an online group.

The group will not be moderated and will be free of charge. Requests for membership will be handled online and applicants will be screened by the BBS Administrator. We are looking for serious writers
who need an intimate support community. Are you such a person? If so, visit http://www.allianceofwriters.com and apply for membership.
