A note to readers:

I’m just back from New York. Had a great time talking with my agent and editor. Also saw my new cover for TEXAS RAIN. I’m very excited about the new series called Whispering Mountain. Right now I’m planning three books about the McMurray brothers, but in my mind I see the fourth coming. My agent laughs and tells me my last trilogy was five books.

When I began thinking about these books, the first story that came to mind was that of the parents. Even though the McMurrays are men in their stories, they were all three influenced as children by their father’s death. He believed that if he slept on the summit of Whispering Mountain that he would dream his future. He climbed the mountain at eighteen and dreamed his death. Twelve years later when he dies fighting for Texas Independence, the father leaves his sons prepared to fight and hold their beloved ranch. The three little boys become men that day.

TEXAS RAIN is the first book and I started with the middle brother, Travis. Like his father, he fights for Texas as a Texas Ranger. With a hundred years of family stories running in my blood, it’s never hard to create a hero who is a Ranger.

TEXAS RAIN will be out November 6, 2006.
