Happy Hello Dear Readers! AND thanks to Tonya, Happy St. Pat’s!
Yes, that’s right, I now have some strands of green hair to boost my writing creativity. Fun stuff.
Speaking of creativity, my new book, Women in Combat with ABC - CLIO, is doing really well on the market. I hope you will suggest to your library to purchase it either in print or ebook form. Information about this book can be found at http://www.abc - clio.com/product.aspx?id=2147507504.
McFarland Publishers has been addressing the changing market by offering ebooks, but it is a daunting task to go back and offer all books. Copyright issues surface and so on. Nonetheless, the books that they have included thus far are: Women at War: Gender Issues of Americans in Combat; The Women of Afghanistan Under the Taliban; The Cuban Family: Custom and Change in an Era of Hardship; Women College Basketball Coaches: and Female Suicide Bombers.
Those books that will likely be included are: Female Genital Mutilation: Legal, Cultural and Medical Issues; Women of Afghanistan in the Post - Taliban Era: How Lives Have Changed and Where They Stand Today: and Women Political Leaders in Africa. The copyright for the remaining two books, Power and Gender and Paternity and American Law, has now reverted to me.
The move toward ebooks is a good thing because it is definitely the wave of the future. For example, the library in my hometown high school alma mater, Grand Island Senior High, shelves primarily ebooks due to space concerns. Another example is just recently a military research center whois tasked with responding to socio - cultural requests for research from forward deployed teams in theatre, wrote me directly to request electronic copies of three books to support their mission (specifically Female Suicide Bombers, Women of Afghanistan in the Post - Taliban Era, and The Women of Afghanistan Under the Taliban).
So when you visit a library with a request that they purchase my latest book, Women in Combat, you will want to stress that it can be ordered in ebook form as well. So far in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area, three libraries have purchased the book: the University of Northern Iowa, Wartburg College and Hawkeye Community College.
Thanks for helping me out.
Cheers! Rosemarie
