Happy Halloween Dear Readers!

I trust this Halloween finds each of you in the spirit of the holiday. We usually stay home and give a quarter to each child that beckons our haunted house. The Season is truly unusual in that we have not had a hard frost. Our new Maple tree has turned a beautiful fiery red and our burning bush, a deep crimson. Iowa is not half bad right now.

I am always truly delighted when I receive McFarland’s approving “first look” letter that says at first glance, “all looks fine.” Now, it is hunker down and wait time. During this period I always prepare a draft index. Thus, when page proof time arrives, most terms will not have to be entered, only page numbers. This procedure speeds up the publishing date immensely.

_Female Genital Mutilation_ is off to a good start. Although the library data base, WorldCat, does not reveal all of the places my books are sold, FGM is currently found in more than 40 libraries.
