Only Those Who Have It
Only Those Who Have It,
know what it is like to be turned away.
They know about the pain of being hit,
with cold shoulders each and every day.
The "it" that I am referring to is Aids,
and it takes lives every day and night.
I know of one whose life slowly fades,
and every living day for her is a fight.
She is a friend named Kim,
and Aids became a part of her life in 1991.
Only few people brighten her light so dim,
and among them I am happy to be one.
It brings me joy to bring her smiles,
and fill her days with laughter.
Very few people would go those extra miles,
to help her live happily ever after.
Only Those Who Have It,
know what it is like to be ignored.
To be spurned like any Plague would fit,
as a description of their pained hearts de-cored.
Kim has lost her family and friends from this,
all but very few of them remain.
Those of us who still care send a hug and kiss,
to her and those like her to ease their pain.
No one knows what it is like but only those,
Only Those Who Have It this is true .
Perhaps it would be like a lone single rose,
in a desert with only the wind to sway through.
Kim, when your time comes...
I as well as others, including those of my friends
who I have shown this poem to will pray with deep
sincerity that it will not be for a very, very long time.
But for every remaining days of your life, our
hearts, love and prayers will be with you always.
The above poem has been written with great
emotion and tears from the bottom of my heart,
but I will do my very best to continue to make your
life as joyful as I had.... :))) There are more
people like me out there who will never turn away
from you. I know a number of them, honestly
and we all want you to smile always. This one is
for you Kimmy, *kisses in the wind* love ya!!!
