Closer to the Sky

Up on my roof is closer to the sky
So if you would know why I go up there that is why

And from me as Icarus to Daedalus as you
I who go up on my roof to do what I do
Say should you like to do it with me there you may too
Being as you are the very sort of person who

Should you come to see me you could be me for awhile
Where I would be you too when understood we share a smile
There we could be if only for awhile then as we are
Should you like to be alongside me a few bright hours

A roof rat as proof that location has vocation
With wine and cheese for our disease of loneliness we face
Invites you to delights of onlyness here in this place
Open to the sky a situational vacation

The sun to light the golden day the moon the silver night
Not mine and yet it is when after hours then it is ours
For watching all the fireworks or wishing on a star
Up on the roof where in my view there everything looks right

For the first nor second floor could never satisfy
Not like my roof up closer to the sky

It's like a prayer and a hymn of no religion, only appreciation. Such welcome and acceptance without obligation. "...delights of onlyness here in this place" Marvelous. ~~ Diana
