ECHOS

A ghost am I
Standing alone
Watching life go by
Fearing each shadow

No one sees me
My disguise in place
The wind blows through me
As if I wasn’t there

I come and go without a trace
Leaving nothing in my wake
For to do so
Would be my mistake

My senses keen
Each leaf is watched
Every movement seen
As the ticking of a clock

I dare not look up
Nor do I look down
My ears will trick me
With each quiet sound

Memories surround me
Things that must not be forgot
Reliving in my mind
Feelings I wish I had not

Begin anew they say
Forgive the past
Let life play
As if it were your last

Sometimes the past is best forgotten and yes, it is good to stop and let life start new, one day at a time. Good poem, I like it. - Vic
