It will get worse before it will get better; tim,e to learn how to endure adversity with a smile.

Smiling in Bad Times
By Bill Cottringer

Been through war,
Been penniless,
Been jobless,
Been wifeless,
Been hurt bad,
Even homeless;
Kept one thing
In bad times:
My smile;
Yes, it’ll get bleak—
Worse wars,
More violence,
Too much suffering,
Less fun,
Less money,
Less good times;
But, you know what?
There’s always
Ice cream,
Comic books,
Music,
And conversation;
You can frown,
Feel bad,
Get drunk,
Get angry,
Take pills,
Even get back;
But nothing changes,
Until you finally learn,
Why to smile,
In bad times.

The prosperity Zone

Everything you say is the truth and people should smile even when things go bad.When you smile,the whole world smiles with you.Thank you for sharing this poem and let people know that there are still things in this world that people should appreciate like our lives,our selves,etc.take care

Keeping our smile in difficult times is so, so important. I have neighbors who believed I was halfway crazy for smiling and making jokes when Hurricane Ike left us a 5 foot 8 inch debris pile in our living room from damage sustained through an 18 by 24 foot hole in the roof. If we lose our ability to smile, however, we lose sight of how things were and can again be.

Thanks for sharing this poem, William. I enjoyed it.

Smile is the best natural medicine,

How true Bill, this surely comes straight from your heart!!
Funny but I could just not write poems that don't rhyme, I thought they gotta rhyme or they aren't poems...that was a childish perspective though!!! Keep up the great work.I for one enjoy what you write.Have my exams coming up post which I intend to get seriously involved in writing.
P.S. - This isn't the only work of yours I've read, would surely tell you later why I never commented earlier...an interesting tale itself.
But just so you know Bill...to me you are an "Inspiration".
If you feel like checking my profile don't do so coz I have nothing written there..LOL..again plan to get onto this site seriously once I'm done with my exams
Keep Smiling!!! =)
