The Road

Debris from countless efforts

Piled high to block the road.

Wayward soldiers climb its peaks

Some lost within their tries.

Pure hearts and clear minds climb through

As knees hit the pavement.

Bloodied and battered, they crawl,

Striving to be the one.

Straight and narrow, they file down,

Hoping to meet life’s call.

They pray unto divine love.

Their spirits carried high.

Along the road, some will fall.

Some die along its sides.

Multitudes will make it through

The road that ends their life.

I like this Mary, read it twice and saw metaphors hidden between the lines, as if Life & The Road are one path to the same end.
