I know a woman everyone thinks is strong,
But I know her well enough to know that they’re wrong.
Where others see wisdom in her eyes I see her past tears.
And the lilt they claim is in her voice is hiding her great fears.
And her ready smile hides her broken heart
That happened long ago when her marriage fell apart.
Self-contained is a term often used to explain her single state,
But truth be told being alone is something she’s grown to hate.
Yes, others think she’s strong and her life’s the way she wants it to be,
But I know that’s not true , because that woman’s me.
