Unconformity

An unconformity is a buried erosion surface separating two rock masses or strata of different ages, indicating that sediment deposition was not continuous.

In other words, a whole bunch (eons) of local history was irretrievably erased.

Photo:Patrick Granfors - Albuquerque's the great unconformity

You unholy Bitch

That would allow

Countless creatures

To disappear

Such a mystery

So cloistered that no one

No one

Really has a clue

Except you

And your gleeful smirk

Betrays your smug indifference

To our petty needs of survival

As your plates collide

And thrust together the very crust

Upon which we reside

Skyward, a few feet

Now and then

To loose the waves

Just ask Atlantis

They are legend

Thus not unconformed

To disappear without a trace

Vanished yes, the human race

But not the mess we’ll leave behind

And I know you do not mind

For creatures come

And creatures go

The unconformity that you know

Will be applied when it is due

The unconformist, not me, but you

Very powerful and descriptive, what a beautiful way to describe natural disasters and the fact that we remain powerless against it's destruction.

A STRONG WRITE IN WHICH YOU SPEW OUT YOUR COMPLAINTS AND RESENTMENT AGAINST THE 'SLOPPY' WORK OF EROSION. THANKS FOR SHARING AND BLESSINGS. JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

A full write Patrick! One that's filled with a wonderfully mixed swirl of commendation and condemnation. Both of which can only spring forth from the mind of a son that's been watching his
parent/s go about the business of dispensing parental wrath without un-questioned cause or cautious candor.

Oh Wow! What a gorgeous view. I'm speechless! Think you have stated your case quite well, very emotional indeed...

Very interesting write! But I'd be watchin' out for a "clout" from Mother Nature at your sassy tongue! giggle...Nicely done.

We haven't figured it, but perhaps the Gran Canyon is the scar that unconformity left eons ago, maybe because Nature knew already then what kind of malevolent jerks would inhabit and spoil everything!

Yikes swearin at Momma nature, she's big woman be careful, best get used to her ways and adjust, if you want to live in the same household with her, in any case you said it with much geological diversity, and I enjoyed the way you said it, great poetry. By the way a most impressive place Albu querki, was there in 60 on route 66 to California. Blessings! Jasmin Horst
