Hey folks I just learned that today is National donut day. There is still time to do your patriotic duty, so get out there and buy American!!!

Sticky gooey stretchy chewy

Frosting on fingers like paste

Hard to resist these little gems

That go straight to your waist

Gut bombs fat pills tummy anchors

Names that we all know

It doesn’t take very many at all

For the end result to show

So skip the veggies and celebrate

This comes but once a year

Support your local baker

Who will gladly grow your rear

Tell the doc to lighten up

And join you in a dunk

In coffee hot but decaf not

The ring that’s truly junk

Tomorrow is another day

Back to broccoli and carrots

Seize this chance to sugarize

Forget their lack of merits

Share an O-ring with a friend

Perhaps you’ll get a kiss

Either way the both of you

Will find culinary bliss

You sure you keep up with current events! My great uncle was a baker and always brought home lots of sugary pastry and donuts when we were there. I don't recall him ever being fat, although he died early in his 60s. His wife lived on into her 90s, eternally thin and very good-looking. Ron

Nice poem! Very funny! But..... Dunk a donut twice eat the sugar and celebrate for me. If I look at the tired ring suckers The tire grows about a yard above my knee!
