It hits you when you become older than your father saw.

Things do not

fall into that place

until you reach

a certain age.

Your never looking back

always eyes ahead

and most the time

missing what is said.

Then days arrive

not with surprise

just there

when you open your eyes

its all about you

your older than your father

he never reached this age.

Your older than you thought you were

can I go back to yesterday?

can I return

make my peace

say sorry dad this should be you.

How did it happen

that I become

older than my father

younger than my mum.

John, Truer words were never spoken. Often you talk to your children, and suddenly hear from your mouth the words your parents used. It's scary!
