Not to Blame

Not to Blame

Most of your life
You lived with pain
And, many days
You simply went insane.

Lost and alone
With your demons
Trying your best to
Understand their meaning.

A motherly love
Very seldom felt
All I needed was a hug
Instead, I got the belt.

A child of five
I learned how to survive
Hidden in my room
I learned how to deny.

Now as an adult
I’ve understood with time
It was not your fault
Or mine.
