Dead of the Night
Dead of the Night
Awakened by a noise
In the darkened corner
Of the bedroom.
A brass knob
Shatters the silence
Slamming against
The cherry wood.
Startled, at first
A peaceful feeling
Quickly comforting
I feel your presence.
My purpose in life
Not yet complete
So much to do
Before, I’m with you.

Deborah,
Your poem is so true of life. I was once told that my purpose in life is to serve. There are none who understand this so well as those who truly believe it. In respect & admiration always, Paul. |
