Whispered Syllables

this is the third piece written in what I call the "thick" haiku"...five lines of five syllables, seven lines of seven syllables, five lines of five syllables.

Whispered Syllables
(TH 3)

In contemplation
Walking woodland trails
I have no schedule
Allowing my feet
And mind their freedom

Above, clouds racing the wind
And touching the sky, join trees
In bright, airy discussions…
I wish I knew the language
Of trees and clouds and could speak,
In their whispered syllables,
Of dreams, life and secret things

A sudden shadow
Draws my attention…
Against cloud and sky
A peregrine soars
And with it, my heart

There you go, again! Inovation is your middle name.
This is easy and relaxing... as warm and cozy poetry should be.
Thak you for a refreshing outing. - Bill

This is an interesting style and one I like better than the traditional haiku, due to the expanded length. I love the last lines and their element of sweet surprise. The peregrine is so beautiful and seeing one in flight is enough to capture a person's breath and heart.

Thanks for sharing this poem, E.W.

All the best and Happy Easter,
Jill
