There’s a Hole in my Heart
There’s a hole in my heart
Where you used to live.
There’s a place in my heart,
That you filled with love.
There’s a place in my soul.
That you warmed with your smile
I was wounded and you made me whole.
The wound has returned, after awhile.
There’s a place in my mind,
Filled with laughter and joy.
But memories fade when love is unkind.
When slowly but surely love is destroyed.
Each human being has one special need.
For words that are spoken, not what we do
The words that we know will plant a small seed
Articulate sounds that say, “I love You.”
Would that you’d fill that hole in my heart
Once again in your hand my soul you’d be keeping.
Drive away fears that one-day we’ll part.
Your lips once more caress me with feeling.
Now you've abandonded us, our child and I
At night in the stillnes, I hear our Daughter weep
Innocence shattered, she doesn't know why.
She slowly cries herself to sleep.
Alas I do fear it is all fantasy.
I feel that I’ll weep ‘till the end of my days.
I hide in the dark so no one will see.
The tears in my eyes would drive them away.
