She came into my life, but didn’t stay,
a troubled past, many miles away.
A beautiful woman she was indeed,
but there were warning signs, I did not heed.
A Southern Bell with an enchanting smile,
and a whispered past that was impossible to hide.
A childhood stolen by a trusted face,
that no power on earth can ever replace.
A secret shared by only a few,
a sister’s love, and now there were two.
The years quickly mount and this child has grown,
into a beautiful woman, so confused and alone.
Time has passed with unfulfilled dreams,
and relationships failed that could not be seen.
Romances start but quickly end, and
lovers wind up being nothing more then just “friends.
Innocence lost, can never be claimed,
those who stood silent bare nothing but shame,
and warm Bible Belt nights, and Born Again hymns,
can never erase an unspeakable sin.
