The house sleeps.
Its sounds lure me to join
with their siren song of slumber.
The warm bed
hugs me with its softness,
entices me back to my dreams.
He sighs.
I push Somnus away
to listen to my lover’s night breaths.
He sleeps,
this man who shares my bed,
and so much of himself with me.
I watch him.
As I sigh in response
he awakens, smiles and kisses me.
We sleep,
wrapped in each other’s arms,
wrapped in each other’s lives.
Our house sleeps;
peaceful slumber fills the rooms
as love fills our awakened hearts.
