An oil drop dangles there

on his eyelash

The light of morning now nearly on

its heralding rays make rainbows

in this

            his anointing oil

And for all this,

he is still

            waiting

Watchman for the morning

Watchman for the dawn

he waits silent

he waits alone

Watching cold oil

turn to hot tears

not a noise

for the Lord of the Morning.
