Dedicated to a great friend
Who passed away a few weeks ago
Isadoro "Izzy" Flores

  I was not there
I did not hear
Whispers in the wind
Carrying his goodbyes
I was not there
When he left
Without a farewell
Through no fault of his own,
500 miles
Separated our space

I am left with tears
At the corner of my eyes
And a prayer in my heart
I was not there to hear
His final goodbyes
I was not there
To hold his hand
As he slip
Into the Paradise
Awaiting his presences
At the right hand of God
I was not there.

I can feel the desolation so powerfully in this, William, but I'm sure the bond of which your words give such ample testimony will have been evident in Izzy's heart and mind even at the time of his passing and he will have known your spirit to be with him - even as it is now. May you be blessed with a deep peace subsequent to this painful feeling of wretchedness and a renewed soul-knowledge that all is well between you. I'm so sorry for this grievous loss. xx

This is so heartfelt and telling of your beautiful soul and friendship. Lovely poetry for such a beautiful friend.

Some things are not meant to be which is little solace now. You have honored his life and yourself. Patrick

Sorry to hear of your loss. This is a nice tribute and though you were not physically there, you were with him in thought. Often, that's just as important. He left this world knowing that he would remain in your thoughts for all the years you have left. Great friends always know. In that sense, you were there. Dick
