I Could Love You

 I could love you,
If I thought you felt the same.
I could love you,
With never a feeling of shame.
I could love you,
Forever through the veil of eternity.
I could love you,
If only I thought that you could love me.
I could love you,
Unfettered by any foolish pride.
I could love you,
If it was not something I felt I must hide.
I could love you,
With a depth you can never fully know.
I could love you,
But it is not my place to show.
So I won't love you,
I'll tell my self this is true .
I won't love you,
And I say that now to you...

I tried to tell that to my ex wife. I guess my idea of love is different from hers. I love her still and I always will. You just "validated" my sentiments with your verses. Thank you, my friend. Love and peace,
