Other than I
Jasmine,
Once my beautiful jasmine,
Wanted me to shine regardless.
For an eternity, I’d thought,
In the silence of my stony heart,
Of the way I could have pleased
Jasmine,
Once my beautiful jasmine,
But I didn’t have the answer.
To shine regardless,
I’ve to be other than what I am.
For, what have I done,
In this world,
That deserves
Discredit or admiration,
Disrespect or veneration?
What I wanted to give
Jasmine,
Once my beautiful jasmine,
Wasn’t splendor and power;
But all the uniqueness of my person,
Its craving for novelty
And transcendence.
However, Jasmine,
Once my beautiful jasmine
Didn’t want to live on my terms.
