Fighting Fire With Gasoline

Talking to the wall...

Until you turned your head..

Saw your eyes..

Saw that deadly spark

You can't hide..

Told me this life just wasn't for you..

I keep on trying ..

But what can I do?

I keep talking to the wall..

Fighting fire with gasoline..

Can't stop this fire..

Sparks ignite from your eyes..

Loves pain is your inferno

No place left hide..

Fire running through my veins..

My love is burning out..

I know you feel the same.

My heart is black..

From years of your arson attacks..

Crumbling like charcoal..

As you burn the very essence of who I am..

Deep within my soul..

The love is gone..

Yet you stay..

It is up to me to walk away.

Can't keep talking to the wall..

Fighting fire with gasoline..

Can't let you keep burning me..

Must have you out of my life..

Time to heal from our arson fights.

These eyes will have cried enough tears

To drown the memories of those painful years.

Free from walls

Free from fire..

Free from your burning desires.

There is a lot of strength in this piece, Erica. When there is nothing left to salvage, it is best to move on and live your life for yourself. You are only granted so much time and to spend it in a burnt out relationship, for the sake of saying you did, is a waste of a lifetime. Excellent write!
Take care,

The Bible says that you have to lose it, to find it. Like Sue stated sometimes you have to quit - to win. 12-step groups say you need to surrender, before a new life can begin. Very empowering write...

Oh, boy....don't know if this is autobiographical or not, but speaking as one who has just escaped from almost 20 years of that same living death, I can attest that it rings true.
