The Candle

I love to find similes in our lives that compare to Christ and this is one of them!

The flickering light brings peace at the end of the day.

As the hardships of morn and eve begin to slip away.

The soft crackling sound of the burning wick comforts quite well.

While my senses are opened to the pleasantly sweet smell.

There are many things a candle is used for.

It can bring smiles to our faces as we walk through a door,

Or perhaps you need it to light your way,

To help you through that dark hallway.

Candles are great to have by your bed,

To bring peace to your night as you lay down your head.

Enjoy one lit upon a table for two,

Your eyes pressed to his with a love that is true .

When the power goes out there’s no better light.

The candle will guide you all through the night.

For a very long time the candle has been.

It’s been used over the centuries again and again.

But there is one who’s been around even more,

Lighting the way for the rich and the poor.

His light is so bright and peace he does give,

He gave us his life that we may all live.

So if you need light to guide you today,

Just follow Jesus and throw the candle away!

Revelation 22:5- And there shall be no night there: and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light:

Psalm 27:1a- The Lord is my light and my salvation;

Do not really throw your candles away. This is just to help you to never forget the true light in your lives.

Great analogy for the power of the Light, Angela. For He is given that the blind might see........Jerry

Dear Angela, what a beautiful piece of poetry. Each word, transcendent and deeply meaningful. I love candles and what they represent in my life: Hope. Thank you. Peace and love in Christ.

I probably have candles that are older than you! They're in a drawer, waiting for the day I need them.
I went down through your lines, reading each way that a candle helps. It really fits Jesus--peace, comfort, sweet smelling*, brings a smile, guides, and more. How well the analogy of a light fits Him!
*The Bible speaks of the fragrance of Christ.
This was good to read, Angela.
