Stop the rape

They beat her on the head

and whipped her with canes,

they kicked her

from every side as a football.

Pale, bruised

and trembling with fatigue

her frail bones

felt like broken sticks

under her hands.

When she lost her consciousness,

they raped her in turn.

What is it that makes

a man rape, a woman,

the pivot, on which

the whole way of life has revolved?

God, if it is a man’s way

of asserting himself and his superiority

then I am ashamed of being a man.

Wonderful powerful succinct poem. A "reality sandwitch" sadly rings true.

What is man?? The answer to this difficult question will vary so widely between many groups of men and many groups of women. This conceptual and rearing fog together with a society that has learnt to practise extreme violence "politely and in a civil way" can bring out the monster from the being whose raison d'etre in an evolutionary biological sense, has been the ability to survive, love and multiply without violence!

All my love and admiration,

Tarek

WELL WRITTEN. BEING BORN WITH THE MALE SEX ORGANS DOES NOT A 'MAN' MAKE. CHARACTER AND CONVICTIONS SUCH AS YOURS IS WHAT MAKES A 'MAN'.
TRUE 'MEN' DO NOT RAPE WOMEN. THANKS FOR SHARING THIS WORK FILLED WITH THE PHRASES AND IMAGERY THAT SUPPORT YOUR THEME WELL. GOD BLESS YOU AND THANKS FOR SHARING. JOYCE

Rape is brute force perpetrated against the helpless by weak souls who loathe themselves, thereby they don't value life. Empty shells...

Bhuwan,
Thank you for this strong, brave poem. Rape is ugly, violent, cruel and an assault on intimacy, sexuality, romance and love...to be condemned and punished each and every time if possible. Again, thank you, you speak for so many of us.

This is not a man's way: It is the way of a coward.

It is not your way nor is it mine, Bhuwan. My father once told me that a man should never strike a woman; not even with a flower. Thank you for sharing this meaningful write, my friend. Love and peace to you,

Regis

As we all should be.
