So Sad

For other’s dealing with abuse.

I once cried many tears and lived a life of constant fear and after years finally walked away from Domestic Violence.

However sad to say for me it was a bit to late as my last episode caused permanent damage to my left side and my legs.

I no longer even drive nor ever will at fortyfive and some days are hard just moving around and even writing as my hands cripple up but I still give my all.

I wrote my very first article a year ago on AD titled Broken Hearts even wrote a novel titled Broken Hearts and it took a long time for my deep hurt to vanish or even open up about this subject.

Although it never will as the memory remains deep within my heart and the scars never will go away.

Since every time I try to play video games with my seven year old or even hold my precious newborn Granddaughter.

I was told by my doctor that I may even be in a wheelchair in time to come, as it appears to be heading this way day by day.

Scared of course as I have young ones to raise and only wish that I would have walked away sooner than later.

I have enjoyed writing on a happier theme of true love and romance the way it should be instead of the heartache as I want to bury it and sad to say it will never really go away.

I am reminded by so many other’s that are living this way as I recently read poems right here on Ad and how my heart truly breaks.

I don’t know what to say for this type of violence to ever end!

So sad as I still cry for all the other’s now that are battered and bruised like I was.

LAURA...THANK YOU FOR SHARING. I KNOW THIS WAS NOT EASY FOR YOU TO DO BUT YOU DID IT TO HELP OTHERS. I PRAY THAT THE PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS THAT ACT AS A REMINDER OF WHAT YOU ENDURED WILL BE TOTALLY HEALED...NOT WORSEN...AND I PRAY...THAT YOUR MIND AND SPIRIT ARE HEALED AS WELL. YOU PRAY FOR THIS TOO, LAURA(3 JHN 2). MAY GOD CONTINUOUSLY BLESS YOU WITH LOVE, BLESSINGS & A DEEP FAITH...

It is wisely said, "a long journey begins with one step. Good for you for finding your strength to take that one step. Love and light, Karen

Thank you for sharing this poem, I know that it will be a help to many out there in a similar situation and I do pray that it may give someone the strength to remove themselves from a violent situation sooner rather than later. I can relate to your walking difficulties as I have had damage to the spinal cord in my neck but thankfully not caused by abuse. Am thinking of you. God bless. Baz

Would that this would be the last of these kind of posts, but I know there will be more. I can only hope others will read this and walk away before they are injured to the extent you are.

Since joining Authors Den about four years ago, I have met and befriended many people, such as you, Laura, that "live lives of quiet desperation" that makes me both sad for the horrible things that have occurred in other's lives and thankful for my life because, in comparison to so many that I Know, other than the problems that I have caused myself, I have absolutely no complaints.
So sorry for the pain caused you by another human being.
Your friend, Mark

An intimate and brave reflection, Laura.

You have insight to help so many, as you have emerged from your own suffering with wisdom and hope. Yet knowing that there has been damage done to you is just heartbreaking as your friend/reader.
Your writing and telling your story will certainly help with awareness.
Blessings,
Christine
