'Human Rights'
A darling embroidered in lovers hearts
To seek justice's not a crime, so I am told
Yours a human rights issue, so goes the song.
But my reality's unfairness applauded
Freedom and honor are words spoken
A lullaby to minds already drowned.
I, a human, for his adored pining
My dream is tossed
Around circles unbending
My dream is noted
In resolutions tossed.
I ask not that I be given half
The earth's resources
I ask not that I be anointed a king
Over a grand empire
I ask not that I be transported
To a higher level.
All I ever wanted, darling,
The shade of my flower garden
Uprooted from my door, nabbed
All I ever wanted,
My feet on my soil,
The kiss of freedom, darling
My rights, darling, and I, a human,
For his beloved pining.
See how I'm booed like a clown gone sour:
What's with him that he won't celebrate
Or sing along?
What's with him that he dare die
Before the rocket landed?
What's with him that he can't lie still
And be relaxed?
Why the frown at the bullet
In the face pointed?
