Friendship Unrequited

Today I weep
for I realize that
  I have failed
through life's trials
and temptations
to be a friend.

When Friendship knocked
on the door after I
closed myself off to the
world,  I could not answer
fearing the stranger
at the door.

When Friendship reached
its hand out to me
when I was down and out
I could only respond with
"What do you want from me?"

When Friendship calls
it does not linger
it continues on its journey
to finally express itself
leaving you behind
never to return.

Alone and loneliness
is the price that is paid
for not receiving Friendship
and today I sit here
realizing that I have failed
to be a friend...

...and I weep.

"Friendship Unrequited" tugs at the heart with its soulful insight.

A beautiful piece by a woman who knows the pain of loneliness and feels the love in tenderness.

A glorious presentation.

A true friend would still be receptive to trying it again! Even if it an apology for a rough reply. Good Luck, but I think a friend is worth the effort. Be Well, Carin'

Sometimes people know what is good for them, but are afraid for one reason or another of it. Love, and friendship can be only words to some and to others a reality but still to some others a thing to be feared because being a friend means commitment from the heart to be there for that person.

Being a friend doesn't just mean hanging out and doing things together that you both like. Being a friend is a lot, lot more. A friend listens, comforts, helps, and shares thngs with you. And this is what some people fear becauseeven though they know it is good to be a friend and have friends, they are afraid of what friendship means.

This is a very deep and poignant write, from a very emotional heart. Thank you for sharing.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your den sister, Barbie

Sometimes people are somewhat gun shy after being hurt
Life can be wonderful but it can also be cruel
I think we should all try to take the chance
For if you don't you could miss life's great dance
Sad but wonderfully written
Have a pleasent day

So heart wrenching, and broken hearts are usually the reason why. but it's not too late to be and have a friend. Deeply touched by your poem Bear Paw.

Unfortunately we all suffer from this painful experience at various stages in our lives. It takes two, and to err is human. A true friend will allow for these mistakes and forgive and forget. We all should learn from our observations. Beautifully constructed, a piece straight from the heart.

Thanks for dropping by my den, much appreciated.

Take good care

Best wishes

Andrea

One shouldn't let the eyes blink when friendship are sending the smoke signals, one need to lost just one word to misunderstand the message.

Friendship is a gift from the Universe, given at the precise moment that it is needed. don't beat yourself up over this, sometimes we are just not paying attention enough. Open up your heart and you will receive the messages that the Universe wants you to hear.
I wish you well,
Much peace, love, and light, my friend,

Perhaps sorrow has its place, but a true friend understands autonomy; it is not so selfish to need ones time. We all can't be Mother Teresa for the masses 24/7 I'm sure even she had to reflect!

A thought-provoking poem, it made me look inside myself too. "Friendship calls...it does not linger... never to return."
But in life, other Friendships knock, and sometimes it returns as it must have forgotten something, like giving you a hug.((((hugs!)))

This applies to many of us, probably all in some context, at some time, the opportunity missed or rejected and then the realization of loss and the guilt. Well well said.
