Become a Fan

Written on one of those "glass half-empty" mornings, when my patience was at a low ebb.

It's finally so. Let me state, if I may,

the art of expression is dead. Swept away.

We're dumbstruck with TV-land mental decay;

original thoughts can no longer hold sway.

Defined by a world where celebrities bray,

as journalists babble for outrageous pay,

while plump politicians pass taxes and play,

where everything's hackneyed, and try as you may,

you cannot find anything brand-new to say.

Can't fight 'em? Go join 'em! Hey, I did. Today

I went down and registered, as a

Cliché.
