Aging: A Birthday Tribute

I decided to express a little jab about aging at the expense of anyone who might be having a birthday. It's all in good fun.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust,
My joints feel like they’re full of rust.
My auburn hair has turned to gray;
My mood swings are now here to stay.
I cannot sleep the whole night through;
I’m always up a time or two,
The TV volume’s now too low;
When did these nose hairs start to grow?
A far cry from late nights and ale,
Retirement plans now fill my mail.
Not long ago, bars were the rage,
Now burial plots express my age.
My knees swell when I sit for hours;
How did I lose my youthful powers?
I fear those days are long since passed,
But when do good times ever last?

I’ll shake the rust from my two knees,
I’ll color my gray, as I please,
I’ll take the bumps and wrinkles too -
I’ve earned them all, but so have you.
We look this way because we’ve thrived;
We’ve done it all and we’ve survived,
But who’s lived most need not be clearer -
I look great; check out your mirror!

One moment! I was just in tho other room and I was young, came here and suddenly I am old?
How long took me from there to here?
Am losing my mind or you are losing theirs? LOL

LOL, Jill, you must have been inside my body when it turned 50! LOL Swear, body's convinced it's 112 ... and every day, the image in the mirrow shows more and more gray. LOL But am grateful to be here: don't like little boxes buried underground. I'm rather fond of air ... Well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
