Bring me a lover, Or almonds swimming in a chocolate sea. Bring me a friend, Or a thimble of serenity. Bring me the coffers of the king, Or a Palomino with head held high. Take me on holiday to the Serengeti, Or hire Sir Richard to launch me high into the sky.
Take me to the Taiga, To watch the spring flowers bloom. Carry me to the desert, To view the harvest moon. Find me in the bleachers Of a pee-wee Tee Ball league, Show me a body of legislators, With none motivated by greed.
Let me always notice The morning’s first breath of air. Let me be a man of peace; Known to others as one who cares. May I forever live this life, With soul devoid of fear. May I never have a heart so hard, That I cannot shed a tear.
Let me always be touched by the love, Of another I find so sweet. Let me never be too proud to address, Those most humble I pass on the street. May this precious heart and soul, That our God has given me, Be forever generous, In every fabled degree.

Frank,
This poem is awesome.
Let me always notice
The morning’s first breath of air.
Let me be a man of peace;
Known to others as one who cares.
May I forever live this life,
With soul devoid of fear.
May I never have a heart so hard,
That I cannot shed a tear.
This verse says it all, Frank. This poem is a keeper for me. Thank you for sharing.
Many blessings,
~Linda
