The door to happiness
Awaits me,
This notion that I have held so long
In the daily grind
Of life so fine
More pain
Than jubilation.
Harried workers
Run on crowded streets
Sidewalks cracked and uneven
Be vigilant along your way
For injury will change your days
Make the details fit your need
For the story of yours
Is obviously for me
Although it was me who inquired
How you were
But you can’t hear the question
This threat which puts you on guard
And you give me the tale
Which esteems you
And I am left with naught
Yet my query echoes in the breeze.
May I please enter the door to happiness
For I am weary with the lack of truth,
You looked in my eyes
And said
“Everybody lies”
Cutting me to the quick
And making me wonder
What has it all been worth?

Oh how this rings of such truths...

Sadly...maybe this is becoming the truth...that everybody lies...but I prefer to believe that truth is important and that there are those in the world whom I can still trust their word.
