Life is indeed a work of art
A labor, an endeavor, from the very start,
Requiring as much consideration
As occupation, while we strive ever to become
Who we might one day be.
In my youth I struggled
Without knowing why,
To become an individual
Who I would today despise,
Although the vision was as clear
As could ever be,
My navigation was skewed
Somewhat desperately.
But these are the conditions
In which we find ourselves,
Bold and furious,
Too ignorant to seek help,
Reckless, indeed,
With majesty in the fore
We seek our splendor
Accelerator to the floor.
As we grow and age
Subtle changes appear,
A certain gentility of action,
A wise discretion born of fear.
We endeavor to accomplish greatness
But we are aware of the cost,
As the tally sheet sits near,
Reminding us of what has been lost.
God’s loving plan
Is validated with the passage of time,
As we identify our virtue
In His precious design,
And the cycle repeats itself
Again and again,
Through the centuries and millennia
From beginning to end.

Your poem has a similar theme with Jerry Engler's most recent...:~) There must be a musing air running through the midwestern section of the USA.
I could see your cycle in each of us during the first half of your poem...but when I got to the last two stanzas I diverged and thought of all of those who never seem to quite "get it," even in their later years...those who remain or turn cold hearted and mean...maybe in reaction to the events of their lives in which they have felt unloved or unwanted, I don't know...but those who seem to lose their hearts and turn completely cynical. I found myself wishing that all of us could enjoy the blessing of the last stanza...that of knowing and realizing that their is a plan and a need for each of us. I am sure we are loved much more than we know or can comprehend...
