A nor’easter was its acknowledged name
Affirmed to me by the passing rain,
And I, my friend, am the prevailing wind
Circling the earth, and then back again,
As my powerful breath waxes and wanes
Others look upon me as a force untamed,
But I am tender as well as destructive at times
Ever eastward I move and higher I climb,
Looking beneath at life as it grows
As the centuries have passed, I am he who knows,
The unpredictability of nature in fury and might
And the victims scattered thoughtlessly in the dark of night,
Raise a fist and curse my path
But I am long gone in the aftermath,
As I battle the nor’easter, hurricane, and monsoon
Reaching for another meridian before noon,
In the end it is I who will indeed prevail
And will calm the seas or create giant swales,
And around the earth I will perennially go
But what trails in my wake, no one really knows.

I love that in every one of your poems there is that little hint of your own special brand of humor. This poem made me smile...just because it sounded so much like you, I guess. It sure is nice to have you posting again. I've missed reading your works. Hope you are on the mend.
