The Compass Within

There is something beyond pure logic as many of us have discovered

Something told me don't do that
I heeded not, and now look where I'm at
I've listened before and escaped many a trap
But sometimes I think I have a better map

I lean on my logic and forge right ahead
And then I see, I should have listened instead
I get mixed up about logic and feeling
Especially when I'm wheeling and dealing

I'm brought up short when I'm sure I know best
Without further words, I think you know the rest
Some call it the sixth sense, others say it's intuition
There are always those who say it's superstition

Trusting in impressions and some kind of hunch
They laugh and say you've gone out to lunch
But most of us know when we listen we win
Let's just call it the compass within
