Are Cynics Synthetic?
© - Tom Hyland - 08-04-09
A Cynic with a Capital C was a member of a group of Ancient
Greek philosophers who believed that Virtue is the only Good -
And that the only means of achieving it is - Self-Control.
On the other hand - there are Five Fingers!
Cynic with a little c however, is somebody who believes That -
Human Actions are Insincere and motivated by Self-Interest.
In other words, somebody Sneering and Sarcastic -
Like maybe - Me?
As an adjective, cynical or cynic means Doubting -
Or contemptuous of human nature or of the Motives,
Goodness, or Sincerity of Others -
Mocking, Scornful, or Sneering - Me Again?
A cynosure however, is somebody or something That -
Is the Center of Admiration, Attention, or Attraction -
Somebody or something acting as a Guide, or used for Direction.
Me again? Maybe?
So - when I write something Scornful -
In order to Guide, Direct, or Warn People -
Am I a Cynical Cynosure?
Es possible Amigo?
Alphabetically, this brings us to Cynthia -
The Moon personified as a Goddess, or Diana.
You do remember how Paul Anka Adored her, Right?
CYO - abbreviation of Catholic Youth Organization.
Cypher, or cipher - I done wrote about that before - see Cypher!
Cypherpunk - is an experienced computer user Who -
Is adept at breaking codes and entering secure computer Systems -
See Hacker - definitely Not Me!
Skipping down past cypress, and cypress vine, we Reach -
Cyprinid - a freshwater fish of the family that Includes -
The carps and minnows, typically with rounded Scales,
Soft fins, and Toothless Jaws - Gummers!
Ergo, a cyprinid is any fish in that large Group -
Whereas, a cyprinodont is a small freshwater fish Of -
North America, Eurasia, and Africa -
With soft fins, but with a Toothed Jaw - Biters!
Skipping down a tad more, we Have -
Cyproheptadine - an antihistamine Drug -
Used especially to Treat -
Asthma, Allergies, and Skin Disorders.
Scrolling down past a whole bunch More -
We find - cystoid - an adjective meaning, resembling a Cyst.
As a noun, a structure or mass of tissue That -
Resembles a cyst, but lacks an enclosing Capsule.
Going backwards in cy - there is - Cymry -
A plural noun - members of the Brythonic branch of Celtics -
Which now comprises the Welsh, Cornish, and Breton Peoples.
I have no clue what happened to Scots or Irish?
So - what does Synthetic have to do with all This?
Definition number four tells us that it is used to Describe
A language that expresses syntactic relationships by means of Inflections, Rather than word Order, and other function Words.
Are Cynics Synthetic?
I DUNNO!
Maybe just Me?

| blimey... i was biting my lip waiting to get to cyn-er... or cyn-agogue!!! I was all agog to see whether a cyn-agogue was, in fact, a sin-bin for cyn-ers.... Am I all of cyn-er, cynic, cynthetic...??? No, alas... merely path-etic! :)) Like this mind-teaser, Tom... and ESPECIALLY as well the intentions of that joy fairy: there are some I definitely have in mind for her to visit...!! :)) xx |

TomKat...you have me totally discombobulated. Cyn? Syn? Sin? Oh, wait! You didn't share with us information on the latter! Unless that had to do with the strange Greeks of Ancient. Continue to keep us on our toes with your "cynicism", friend...

We don't need to go out and buy cynicism, the government politicians will give it to you for free!
Now, aren't those Congressmen, House Representatives, Presidential Advisers, Lobbyist...the whole lot a bunch of clones is plastic?
Gimme a break, I am confused as it is, don't need help from a crazy Tom!
