Trip - The Mysteries Of Time And Space Part Two
My eyes create an image but my mind doesn't understand,
A vision of an old witch who takes me by the hand,
To a room where there's no windows and no paintings on the wall,
She told me to create a cameo in red and blue and gold,
In circles ever smaller until the last one I can't see,
And the circles take on new shapes of an animal 'neath a tree.
The animal steps forward and then utters some sounds,
About the troubles in the world, of God and of His ground.
So I trip the light fantastic and the walls just disappear,
I'm in an open space now and the galaxy is clear,
And one star is the brightest then it changes to a face,
A hideous caricature of a man fallen from grace.
The man he points a finger and then disappears in haste,
He left to me the mysteries of time and of space,
So I turned my mind to reason and my thoughts were full of fear,
I've reached my journey's end now and the witch she was my peer.
So when I walk this path once more I won't make the same mistakes,
I'll hold my head up high, grit my teeth and I'll be brave.
I'll carry my life before me with my conscience as my sword,
And if I die before my time I'll leave with you these words.
