I wrote this after meeting my boyfriends mother for the first time. She was in a rest home, trek tube, thyroid cancer and unable to speak. I knew it would probably be the last time I saw her as well as the first. Out came this poem like magic. |

If I could find just one word to say
my heart has filled with love today
I would cry, I would smile
but it would only last
for just a little while
then,
as time is a pendulum
forever bound
by the moments we cherrish
as the world goes round,
I will remember
and I will forget
then,
I will remember again,
the sound of love
in a voice I hear
no anger
no sorrow
no fear,
only the sound
of wings in flight,
fluttering irredescent colors
of light,
I would cry, I would smile
but it would only last
for just a little while
then,
as time is a pendulum
forever bound
I will remember you
as the world goes round.
