This poem will be in my next book, 'Kaleidoscope BOOK 1', - a collection of new poems, which are printed and sold as a paperback - via UK or USA from MY BOOKS and as an ebook for Kindle. happens.
The book reflects on my country which I love, the UK, but it could really be about virtually any country in the world! It compliments an article I have written - see website below, called 'Moral collapse started at the top'.
Mirror, Mirror on the wall
Mirror, Mirror, on the wall
Who are the greediest of them all?
Expenses forms and credit cards
Like confetti, I see them fall
Mirror, Mirror, on the wall
I see hypocrisy in high places
People talking with backs turned
So I cannot see the faces
Mirror, Mirror, on the wall
What examples do you perceive?
Blinkered bankers, eyes shut tight
Teaching others how to thieve
Mirror, Mirror, on the wall
Many in authority, now you show
Grasping, selfish, affecting all
Making sure their funds can flow
Mirror, Mirror on the wall
I could weep at what I see
Girls and boys with stolen clothes
How did this tragedy come to be?
Mirror, Mirror on the wall
You show destruction, fire and more
A bleak and barren landscape
That the old have seen before
Mirror, Mirror, on the wall
Your reflection looks quite shattered
By a maelstrom of dark pain
Vision lost of much that mattered
Mirror, Mirror, on the wall
Can you the future show?
Fragments of broken pictures
As that answer we cannot know
Mirror, Mirror, on the wall
Your surface now seems clear
I see a bright sign, saying, ‘HOPE’
But sadly, I can not read the year
