Weather can be a symbol of many things. Storms come and go in our lives, but their purpose is not always apparent. This is another of the poems that became part of an article for the September 2011 issue of the Marquette Monthly.

When I look and see one coming, I prepare

Watch it pass warm and dry

Other times, I do not take the time to look

Storms catch me vulnerable

Drench me with my foolishness

But one I never saw coming

Lingered long and longer

Until I shouted at the sky

Why me?

Where is my silver lining?

Until I almost stopped believing in rainbows

When I finally accepted living with wetness

It ended as suddenly as it began

The last droplets revived my creative rose
