I 'lost' my twin brother in a war in 1982. The rest is explained for anyone who feels they should have been closer to someone they loved before they lost them.

Not Close, but closer now

The photo shows

Two boys in matching clothes

Me, in front, surprise

You close behind.

"The twins" we were

Not 'close' in any way

But brothers. 18 years,

Not close, and brothers still.

You sailed South in '81.

At 42, I walk my sons

Through winter fields

And think of you, 18.

Never close, but closer now.

As I walk, slowly on, alone,

Along the path that leads

Straight on towards,

The place where I will

See you once again and

Take the piss, not 'close', you see.

My boys are following me.
